Synopsis
Since 1960, in his various incarnations, the character known as James Bond has been involved onscreen with a variety of women, from the statuesque newcomer Ursula Andress in DR. NO, to 60-year-old Dame Judi Dench playing an elegant M in GOLDENEYE 33 years later, to a very 21st-century Halle Barry in DIE ANOTHER DAY. The "Bond girls" have encompassed many different types, ages, nationalities, ethnic groups, and attitudes; they include sexpots, villains, and a number of colorful (and usually outrageously bosomy) minor characters. In BOND GIRLS ARE FOREVER, the actress and filmmaker Maryam d'Abo (a Bond girl herself) and Bond expert John Cork have created a tribute to the women in 007's life, not only the ones he loved but the ones he hated. (Pussy Galore is here, but so is the sadistic Rosa Klebb.) This oversize volume is filled with gorgeous photographs--both color and black-and-white--depicting these lucky women in their onscreen roles, but it also offers, in their own words, their thoughts on the films, on feminism, on their own sexuality, and--perhaps most of all--on the glorious fun they had participating in these legendary entertainments.
