Movie Description
Two film noir classics by the master of suspense about World War II espionage, BON VOYAGE and AVENTURE MALGACHE were banned by the British government and unavailable for almost 50 years. In BON VOYAGE, John Dougall, a British prisoner-of-war, manages to flee his Nazi captors with plans to contact the Resistance and take refuge in Free France. But during wartime, one must be careful who one trusts. AVENTURE MALGACHE tells the story of Clarousse, a French lawyer who once fought for the Resistance. Having escaped to London, he tells a harrowing tale of bravery and betrayal.

Notes
BON VOYAGE is 26 minutes long; AVENTURE MALGACHE is 31 minutes long. Both films are in black and white with French dialogue and English subtitles.

Made for the British Ministry of Information during World War II, AVENTURE MALGACHE was supposed to be propaganda for the French Resistance; the British government intended to distribute it in Free France. Ultimately, the short was never released because it dramatized the conflicts among the fighters in the Resistance and so was not deemed appropriate propaganda.

The story of AVENTURE MALGACHE is actually based on the real experiences of the actor who plays Clarousse.

The Free French forces supplied Hitchcock with technical advisors.

Bon Voyage was made for the British Ministry of Information during World War II. Hitchcock was paid only £10 ($15) per day for making this film

Cinematographer Günther Krampf (who shot both films) is best known for having photographed G.W. Pabst's masterpiece, PANDORA'S BOX., DVD Features:
