I am a big fan of Anita Shreve, and have read most all of her other books. This one was written in a more formal tone, which caught me off guard at first. It was not her usual style, but the story was full of unexpected plot directions, and took me, the reader on a journey of interesting people, and very descriptive scenery. The end was riveting, and poignant, and beautiful all at once. The characters were very intriguing also.
