Recording information: 2005.
Soul man Bobby Valentino, the first R&B star on Ludacris's Disturbing Tha Peace label, may have seemed an overnight success when his hit "Slow Down" rocketed up the charts in 2005. However, there is a reason Valentino's self-titled album sounds more richly honed than most debuts. Like Anthony Hamilton, John Legend, and other R&B artists whose breakout records revealed a deeper history, Bobby Valentino knocked around the music world for years (primarily as member of the 1990s vocal group Mista) before Ludacris signed the Mississippi-born singer.
The experience pays off for Valentino on a record that frequently travels outside of standard R&B territory, as his capable voice occupies smooth compositions, with both passion and restraint. The catchy single "Slow Down" opens on an orchestral hook, before gliding into an ode that pulls off the feat of being both leering and courtly. "Never Lonely" features distorted, quirky stops and starts, but its strongest characteristic is its winsome melody. By the time "My Angel (Never Leave You)" comes around, Valentino has fully seduced the listener with his satisfying and sultry debut.

This is what you get when you combine Usher with R.Kelly?

    Pros:
Excellent and soulful voice, strong lyrics and hot beats.

    Cons:
Too much production which it makes it hard to hear/understand what Bobby is singing.

First there was Chingy and now Bobby Valentino! Can Bobby Valentino stand out from Chingy or just fall right into the same category?

    Some Bobby:
This is basically an intro for the album. The beats are clapping and I think it is actually a good way to start the album off. It lasts about 30 seconds. All Bobby sings about is how everybody need some Bobby.

    Slow Down:
Bobby's first single off the album is Slow Down. It actually is a good single and actually represents what the album is about-GIRLS! The beats are full of technical beats with medium hits on the drums with mild clapping. They really go well with the song and the production is great. Bobby's vocals here are excellent. He does great doing the high points and the low points. When he does the high points, he reminds me of R.Kelly and the low points are similar to Usher but with a more upbeat vocals. Slow Down doesn't point out the way over production like I mentioned which means you can hear and understand what Bobby is sing The lyrics are really good and creative. They are long length too. Replay Value: 5/5 Overall: 5/5

Slow down I just wanna get to know you
    But don't turn around
Cuz that pretty round thing looks good to me
Slow down never seen anything so lovely
    Now turn around
And bless me with your beauty, cutie

Give Me A Chance featuring Ludacris:
Bobby just wants you to give him a damn chance but will people actually will? For this dance track, the beats are upbeat medium hits on the drums with medium clapping. Also, you get the occasional technical sound. The beats are awesome and they go well with the song. Bobby's vocals here are excellent and again, he does high points and low points well. In this song, we do get the over produced. The beats are good but they are too loud for Bobby's voice. The sharps don't go or time right when Bobby is singing. It seems the beats are interrupting Bobby while he sings. You will have a hard time understanding what the hell Bobby is singing about unless you have the lyrics of course. Ludacris' vocals are great and I was glad he was on the track because this song needed a duet! Luda does a great job singing fast as usual. The lyrics are again strong, creative and long. Replay Value: 5/5 Overall: 4/5

Why you looking at me like that?
Do you like what your looking at?
If you do what you waiting for?
    Let's have a conversation
I can find a corner over there
    Lights down perfect atmosphere
I'm gonna make you want me, right now
    Give me a chance

    Never Lonely:
From that song of the impression, it seems Bobby will never be lonely. For this mild romantic track, the beats are soft hits on the drums with a few clappings and a piano. They go well with this romantic track. Bobby's vocals here are excellent once again. He does do the high and low points again excellent. My favorite line he sings is; Are never lonely. You do get the occasional Over produced glitch but it can be forgiven because the song overpowers it. I also did notice that Bobby sings low on the chorus...well parts of the chorus which that isn't good since the beats overpower his voice on most of the tracks on the album. The beats don't overpower him too much on this track but things like that will hurt Bobby really bad. The lyrics are excellent, creative and long. Also, they are well-written. Replay Value: 5/5 Overall: 4/5

Girl I know you don't need a man
    Another heartache relationship
I just wanna make sure, that you
    Are never lonely, (Oh)
Girl I know, you don't need a man (Oh no)
    Another heartache relationship (Oh no)
I just wanna make sure, that you
    Are never lonely

    Tell Me:
I'll tell Bobby that his album is so far good but will Bobby get too happy about it and be wreckless in the process of his album? The beats in Tell Me are a violin, hard hits on the drums with a clapping. They go well together and it fits the song real well. Bobby's vocals on Tell Me are excellent as usual but that Over produced glitch is back again and mean as ever! Tell Me is one of the tracks that really hurts Bobby's vocals AND our understanding of what Bobby is singing. This glitch happens mostly during the chorus when Bobby is singing How did you get that in those jeans and the line I'll meet you in the V.I.P. After a couple of times singing that, Bobby does clean up a bit and you can understand what he's singing. Other than that, Bobby does a good job but that production got in the way for this to be a masterpiece. The lyrics are really good and creative. Replay Value: 5/5 Overall: 4/5

    Oh ma tell me
How did you get that in those jeans
The way you poppin it is killing me
Look over here come follow me
    Tell me
How did you get that in those jeans
The way you dropping it is killing me
I'll meet you in the V.I.P

    My Angel(Never Leave You):
Since the production did stray away last song, it's time for the score of My Angel. The beats sound so alike to Jennifer Lopez's I Love You. The beats are soft hits on the drums with a few clangs on a chime. Bobby's vocals are excellent but again, that production did get in the way a little on this track. It doesn't happen on the verses but the chorus is hit with it. First off, Bobby sings low on the chorus except for that Never Leave You line. I warned Bobby about that on the track-Never Lonely. The beats are begging for upbeat vocals on the chorus. Bobby did sing upbeat on the verses but why can't he do that on the chorus? Makes no sense whatsoever. The lyrics are good but far from excellent. It has some good points and some well-written parts but the chorus seems like a 16 year old girl would write to her bestest friend. The lyrics are long length also. Replay Value: 3/5 Overall: 3/5

I'll never leave you God put us together 4 Ever
    My Angel Never Leave You
    You're My BestFriend
and its to the end I'll die for you

    Want You To Know Me:
Bobby wants you to know him a little better so let's get on with the song! The beats are somewhat similar to Slow Down except this is a milder type. The beats are soft hits on the drums with the occasional hard hit on the drums with a clash with the hard hit on the drums. The beats actually set the mood to have sex(if that is a good thing for some). Bobby's vocals are excellent once again. Damn, is it just me that Bobby Valentino can sing? Bobby hits the high and low points great. Once again, that damn production glitch is back! Bobby sings upbeat on the verses but once again, low on the chorus. Why can't that boy sing upbeat on the chorus too? That low-key singing makes the production take over and makes us hard to understand what Bobby is singing about. The lyrics are good and creative but they are on the short side though. Replay Value: 4/5 Overall: 4/5

I want you to know me better to know me cause baby I can see the future, you know we should
be together. I'm not gonna play with you, so dont you play with me. Let's put this thing together
baby, I'll leave these other girlz alone

    Gangsta Love:
It seems Bobby wants that gangsta love except that innocent love. The beats are medium clappings with soft hits on the drums. Bobby's vocals here are excellent but he sings low but this time, he sings low on the verse and the chorus. Uh-oh! Over production comes in for the kill! It isn't too hard to understand what Bobby is singing during the verses but the chorus is hurt---real bad! The lyrics are excellent and creative. Replay Value: 3/5 Overall: 3/5

    She got the gangsta love
    I can't get enough
    When she pick me up
    She be swirvin
    ????????
    She's like my homie
    My one and only

    Come Touch Me:
For this dance track, the beats are upbeat and fast medium hits on the drums with a few clashes and technical sounds in the mix. A great combination but not for the song. This is a romantic song and it shouldn't be a dance track. Bobby's vocals are really good but Bobby doesn't give us his potential on this track. Bobby sings really good during the verses and he sings upbeat but it's not the beat he has done. During the chorus, Bobby does good but he sings slow and he stretches words out and that isn't good for the type of this song which is romantic by words but beats for dancing. The thing that got me the most was the break. He sings good but he's hard to understand and the beats don't make it any easier. The lyrics are good but are on the short side. Replay Value: 3/5 Overall: 2/5

    Please come touch me (yeah)
I need it right now so do what you do and please me (alright) kiss me right there baby nice and slow

    I'll Forgive You:
For Come Touch Me, he should be the one that should beg for forgiveness! In I'll Forgive You, the beats are very mild and soft. The beats are a piano softs hits on the drums and the occasional hard hit. It fits the mood and fits the song real well. Bobby's vocals are excellent on this track during the verses and the chorus! What a surprise except Bobby still sings low during the chorus. The production doesn't hurt Bobby's vocals on the chorus. You can understand Bobby this time! The lyrics are really creative and are medium length. Replay Value: 5/5 Overall: 5/5

    I'll forgive you
    But you really hurt me
My heart wants to try us again
    I know your only human
    But you almost destroyed me
    Our love was worth it
Still I need a little more time

    Love Dream:
For Bobby's Love Dream, the beats are soft hits on the drums with a soft clash at the end. You also get a soft chime and a soft technical sound in the mix. Bobby's vocals are excellent and soulful. He does great throughout but that low-key singing is hurt. You mostly understand Bobby during the chorus but the verses you somewhat can understand. The verses are the important thing in a song and if it ain't right, the ain't right. The lyrics are creative and long though. Replay Value: 3/5 Overall: 2/5

(If its all right, can I...)
Come lay next to you girl
(If its okay, can I play...)
    And climb into your world
(I know its late, but I can't wait)
I need to feel you now
    This is my LOVE DREAM

    Lights Down Low:
Should the ladies turn the lights down low with this track? The beats for this sexual night are soft finger snapping with a piano and real soft hits on the drums. Bobby's vocals are excellent during the verses and you can understand him but the chorus is hurt badly by Bobby's low singing. Bobby just can't seem to stop singing low on the chorus. The chorus IS NOT hurt by the beats but just Bobby's real low singing. The lyrics are really creative and long. Replay Value: 4/5 Overall: 4/5

    Turn the lights down low
    Light some candles babe
    We can get on
    It's been so long since
    We last made love
    I miss your love
We gonna do it all night long
Put on a sexy dress, a secret CD
It's time to get hot, time to get freaky
It's been so long since we made love
We gonna do it all night long

    One Girl To Love:
Well ladies, it seems Bobby just want one girl to love. For this track, the beats are soft finger snapping with a soft piano tunes. Bobby's vocals are excellent and are soulful. The verses are good and you can understand them! The chorus is tiresome really bad. Bobby tries to stretch the words out successfully but he fails real bad. I think he should have sung it like he did on the verses-soft and soulful instead of trying to stretching the words out. His vocals on the chorus gets hurt real by this. The lyrics are really good and are medium length. Replay Value: 5/5 Overall: 4/5

    Is one girl to love
    Give her all of me
    One girl to love
Give her everything she needs yeah

    Thank You Lord:
This is Bobby's outro to his debut album. All he does is thank Lord for everything. The music to this is just a piano.

    Slow Down Remix:
This is the remix for his hit single Slow Down. The beats are softer and milder. The beats are a soft piano with medium clashes with very soft hits on the drums. I think the original version is better because it's more upbeat and thats the type of song it wanted-upbeat beats! Bobby's vocals again are great during the verses but the chorus is hurt by Bobby's low singing. The lyrics have changed and sadly, they don't top the original version. The chorus is very tiresome though and it also hurts the remix since the original version had a more catchy chorus. Replay Value: 0/5 Overall: 1/5

slow down I just wanna know ya
slow down I just wanna know ya
slow down I just wanna know ya
slow down I just wanna know you

My Thoughts On Bobby's Obsession With Girls:
Bobby Valentino's album has a lot and I mean A LOT of potential. Bobby can sing which isn't a surprise if you have seen the video for Slow Down. He sounds a lot like Usher or similar to him and Bobby has the class like R.Kelly. Sadly, Bobby's album suffered badly because of the too much production in the tracks. Don't get me wrong, the songs are good. In fact, most of the songs are enjoyable and not hateable. It just that the loud production slows and/or interrupts Bobby's vocals. The production is too loud for Bobby since he does sing low on most songs. If Bobby sung more upbeat during the chorus and some of the verses, this would be a classic album but no, Bobby sings low while the beats are loud. Bobby Valentino has a lot of potential on this album and in himself. In my opinion, this will not be the last we will hear from Mr. Valentino. In fact, I think Bobby will have a successful career in the music business.

Current Hit: Slow Down and Tell Me

Possible Singles: Never Lonely, Give Me A Chance and Tell Me

Best Track: Never Lonely, Slow Down and Tell Me

    Worst Track: Slow Down Remix
