I saw Patty Loveless in person this past fall and was amazed and very impressed with the power and honesty of her voice. She also has a stellar back-up band and they obviously respect her. So when I saw a listing for her Christmas CD, I decided to take a chance.
I am really glad that I did. If you long for Christmas songs sung from the heart, I highly recommend this disc. Her vocals shine, as does the accompaniment. It feels to me as if I am at a family gathering in the Blue Ridge Mountains and Uncle Joe has his fiddle and Cousin Patty finally starts to sing. The carols, like "Silent Night" and "Away In A Manger" have an honest quality you don't find in many modern collections. My personal favorite is "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem". As with all the tunes, the harmonies are tight and the lyric wonderful. This carol could be sung in church on Christmas Eve and the congregation would leave as blessed as by "O Holy Night!"
I find myself a true fan of Patty Loveless. The sincerity of her powerful and melodic voice shines on this Christmas CD. It leaves me longing for an afternoon at her house during the holidays when everyone coaxes her to sing. The CD leaves you warm and in the Holiday Spirit. After all, isn't that just what Christmas music is supposed to do?
Kudos to Patty and her band for this exceptional collection of Christmas music. You have truly blessed me this season, and I look forward to many more.

This ia a great Christmas CD by Patty Loveless. I could not find it in the stores at Christmas. She has a wonderful voice to listen to on the songs.

I bought in for a friend for Christmas. Both he and I love Patty Loveless music. This is a great CD.
