Album Notes Union: John Corabi (vocals); Bruce Kulick (guitar); Jamie Hunting (bass); Brent Fitz (drums). Producers: Bob Marlette, Bruce Kulick, John Corabi. Recorded at A & M Studios, Hollywood, California and The Blue Room, Woodland Hills, California. A megaband formed by ex-Motley Crue vocalist and ex-Kiss guitarist Bruce Kulick, Union's sophomore effort, THE BLUE ROOM, is a quantum leap over its debut. A move from analog to digital recording and the enlisting of production guru Bob Marlette are just two of the factors in its favor. "Do Your Own Thing" is a big, catchy rock tune in the band's Cheap Trick/Beatles/Aerosmith/Hendrix vein, while "Everything's Alright" is a multi-layered, psychedelic number chock full of Beatles references. "Shine" looks to a brighter future, drawing on Led Zeppelin's "Battle of Evermore" for inspiration. Even when the pace eases, on songs such as "Hypnotized" and "I Wanna Be," Union's material steers clear of rock power ballad cliche. In particular Jamie Hunting and Brent Fitz, on bass and drums respectively, are a killer rhythm section. Although THE BLUE ROOM is an amalgam of influences, Union's sound is fresh and explosive.
