I thought this is one of Box's best. I agree tho it should be read in order that they are written. I have nine of his books and when there are more I will buy them. They are so different then other murder mysteries. But once you start they are hard to put down. You get to know his family and can't wait to see how they do in the next book. Great reading!!

I think this story was ok... there were a few times I wanted to forget it and slip this novel aside... the constant thoughts by the killer himself were good at first... but they seemed so poetic and so intailed and long... I started to skip a few...pages... its a below average read... not very exciting. Box's style of writing needs work. Less babble and more of the story.

This is CJ Box's best work to date but don't start with this one, get the first of the series "Open Season". The main character, Joe Pickett, a Wyoming game warden trips and blunders his way into the most unbelievable situations and predicaments but always manages to get himself back out, so far, with some degree of honor. He describes himself as an average Joe but his unfailing honisty, sense of duty and detication to family and friends seperates him from anyone average!
