This movie was great! It was just that as you are starting to really enjoy the movie its over, like the climax is at the end, not a good ending. It says it 83 minutes long but feels like 30 min. It is worth buying if you like the Blood+ anime. Also, 1 or 2 scenes have blood being spilled but nothing like severed heads or anything, and one quick scene of nudity.

Its from the creator of ghost in a shell. TOP NOTCH ANIME. worth owning to any vampire or anime collection. This is just as good as watching Vampire Hunter D.

I luv japanese animation, and am crazy about vampire movies... so this choice was obvious.
I find the movie really well put together. The story line is interesting and the characters are solid. I think that the characters however could have been better developed. I get that the movie could have just been a 2 day episode on TV... a good one. I guess overall, I would have to say: it's really short. Your barely getting into the story... and then it's over.

"Blood: The Last Vampire" is the movie that inspired the 50-episode anime series "Blood+". I was a fan of the anime series first and decided to check out the movie soon after I saw the anime. Aside from the main character of Saya, the Japanese school girl and David (her agent?), I didn't recognize a name from anime series, but the main story is much the same. There are shape-shifting blood suckers called chiropterans running among the population and Saya is the one who is capable of killing the creatures.
The animation is quite beautifully done in this movie, and when it came out, it was cutting edge. Some of the elements on screen look very real and the story is quite fascinating. However, the movie is terribly short at only 48 minutes, by most anyone's standard (short for even Disney's kiddie movies), and the viewers are left with lots of unanswered questions and generally wanting more. I was disappointed by the shortness of it, and I remain a royal fan of the anime series that was inspired by this movie. (Although the original movie's Saya was cooler, I thought.)

) Awesome manga series turned into an Anime. The flow of the movie is fairly smooth some of the voice acting is not that great; but the entire movie is overall enjoyable. The animation is well done. The plot has a few holes in it but nothing that is too distracting and it does not have a bunch of gratuitous gore or nudity.
Would recommend this for anyone who is just starting to get into anime or someone trying to get their girlfriend into anime.

) This was purchased because we follow the Blood + series on cartoon network. This lays the background info for the series and so we really wanted to see it and see if it answered some questions..which it did. Good anime movie,though really not for children due to the violence. worth the price paid and we are very happy with our purchase.

I wanted to buy it because I love the anime on Adult Swim and found out that this was the DVD that helped to start the anime. I liked the animation; it was pretty realistic and time-accurate. The thing that I didn't like too much was the fact that they kept switching between English and Japanese voices. Also, I don't know where this story fits in the timeline of the one running now.

In 1966 odd-little Saya is sent to an Air Force base school in Tokyo just in time for Halloween. While her schoolmates focus on the Halloween party Saya discovers that her classmates are monsters in disguise - good thing Saya knows what to do!
There is Japanese dialogue (with subtitles) mixed with English - some characters are Japanese and others are American. This is a short film - less than 1 hour - but it is packed with gore, blood, violence and girls in school uniforms. Highly recommended for horror/manga fans.

Positives: it has well-planned and executed action scenes, smooth animation and CG effects, the Music is very fitting, the sound quality is very good, great voice actors, although short, the story comes across smoothly and is put together very well (you don't feel like it is too compressed), Saya's character comes across very well, and I loved the mixing of language: people who spoke English spoke English people who spoke Japaneses spoke Japaneses and those who were bilingual... well you get the point(very good subtitles as well).
Negatives: short for a full-length film at only an hour and a half, many of the main players are never fully described, Saya's reason for what she is doing is never really talked about or shown, And well you're looking at a movie called Blood, of course it will be very violent, and large amounts of gore will be in it. A short bit of nudity when a “suicide” scene is looked over.
NOT a movie for kids or anyone who can't handle blood in large amounts... mature audiences only... older teens and adults.
The only reason I'm not giving it a 5 star and I am only giving a 4 star is because MY preference in movies, I tend to not have the very violent type as my favorites... but for what genre it is a *5-STAR* is probably more appropriate.
