WOnderful book by the so called Yuppie Don, a different breed of mobster in that he was college educated, very smart and abhorred violence. Most of his crimes were white collar giving a new dimension to the mob, often making 5-7 million a week! yes a week!He brings you from his days as a young man when he had to make the choice to follow his old man into the mob, or become a doctor as his dad originally wanted. He choose the former after much thought. It follows his rise throught the ranks, his very fast rise actually, and the ways he made tons of money, while escaping the typical mob activities like beatings, killings, and extortion. We have to take his word for it that he didnt do these things, as some question it. Later on, Michael found God through the meeting of a wonderful young woman in California where he was acting as a producer of films. She slowley changed his life, Michael did some jail time and eventually turned to Jesus and the rest as they say is history. He walked away from mob life and didnt enter a witness protection but he also didnt rat anyone out. He walked away on HIS OWN. Not thourough any pressure by the feds. So now he preaches and has done so for many years, against gambling and crimes and shows young people what to avoid especially in regards to gambling which he says ruined hundreds of people he knew. and yes michael also fixed sports events! But its a true story of a man who overcame demons to rise to serve the Lord and mankind. He is eloquent in every respect, in book form and in person. Not your typical mob man. But he gives a glimpse into the day to day life and has you on the edge of your seat, especially when at one point he thought he was going to get whacked. Get this book, you will not be sorry.
