Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII (Xbox 360, 2006)

My husband bought this game for his XBox 360 on Saturday night. He started playing it Sunday morning, and stuck to it like glue until mid-afternoon. He raved about how realistic the game seemed, great graphics, great plot, just an all-around excellent playing experience. So good that he picked back up on it Sunday evening, playing non-stop until midnight or so, and after work on Monday, he got back into it again.

Then he ran into the problem.

Monday evening, he discovered that he had beaten the game. Entirely.

In approximately 11 hours, the game was finished. The game was great in content, but after paying $39.99, and only getting 11 hours of playtime out of it, was it really worth it? I caution the serious adult gamers out there to consider the length of the game when purchasing Blazing Angels. You'll get a great game-playing experience, but just as you're really getting into it, the game is over.

The game itself is good and is a good play.

But, much of the stuff I read about it before I purchased it, made it sound like a flight simulator.

It is not a flight simulator game, it is a flying shooter.

The difference? Well, if you are expecting realistic performance flying WWII planes, this is not what the game provides. You only have basic steering, there is no trim or instruments. Although they give the planes different names and use pictures of the original planes, the flight characteristics do not really change to match the original planes, the plane naming is just a way to change armor and weapons options.

It does play well, since unlike a true simulator, you don't have to worry about the mechanics of flying and all the technical stuff that goes with it.

So, my suggestion is that if you are looking for a flight simulator, keep looking, if you want a fun multi-player flying shooter, this is for you.

Well its about time there was a exciting, easy to learn flight game made!! This is it, forget over-g its 2nd rate to this one!! Graphics can be a little secthie at times but all in all a must have for anyone who likes flight game!! A++++

A lot of people on here complain about the cheesy voiceovers. I kind of like it. If you ever played the original starfox for the SuperNintendo and enjoyed it, then you will definatly love this. You are the Captain of a small squadron of American fighter pilots. The dogfighting is great, and can really throw off your equalibrium when you are trying to get behind an enemy target. The missions are fun, and give you a sense of victory when you win. The graffics are excellent, and I love the control style. There are ways to make on-the-fly repairs to your aircraft and everything.

Before purchasing this title, I had read several reviews of this game and then downloaded a demo to my Xbox 360 to try. First, I was impressed by the details of the graphics. It did not matter if you were flying high above the terrain or down low, the scenery was very detailed. I have always been a WWII buff and enjoy flight simulating games, the two together peaked my interest. After playing the demo, I was hooked and looked to purchase the full version of the game. The only con I have found for this game is that the flight charateristics of the different types of aircraft does not mimic the real aircraft, of which I have an avid interest. With that aside, the game play is very smooth and gives the player a sense of flying and dogfighting. Overall, I would recommend this game to those who enjoy flight simulators and WWII history.

This is actually a good game.First ill talk about the graphics whish are very nice,air combat never looked so good the grass,water,trees and the building are nice the planes look realistic. The only problem with the graphics is the people which are like blocks even though you never really see them every once and awhile you will be taking off and see them running around.Other than that it has pretty good graphics.Okay next is gameplay which real good not to mention fun dogfignts sometimes are a bit easy but that is okay it is a pretty long game.Controls take a little getting used to but once you do it will be a piece of cake manuevering your plane around stuff."be care not run into a building of faceplant into the water".Sound is good as far as the planes and environment but the people just uhhh I didn't know german and japanese spoke english to each other in bad accents,and joe the southern hick his voice gets annoying after awhile.Multiplayer is pretty good it has plenty of gametypes but what really takes the cake for this game's multiplayer is that it has 16 player co-op that is great.Overall this is a pretty good game with great graphics decent gameplay and good multiplayer the controlls take some getting used too and the sound could use some this is a game ill be playing for a while.

The controls on this game is difficult. The sense are good, with good dog fights. But you'll end up srashing your plan on your owne befor you are shot down. I bought the game because of some previews I saw on it befor I played it, that is a mistake I will not make again.

Good single player mode with excellent on line play.Don't like the narrative but it can be shut off.A couple of levels are tough,but they can be beaten with extra time.

REPLAY THE ORIGINAL BATTLES IN GREAT DETAILS. LEARN TO FLY, ACT AS A TEAM OR DOG FIGHT. SUPERIOR MULTIPLAYER. ADULTS AND KIDS ALIKE WILL HAVE HOURS AND HORS OF FUN WITH THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!

Great game! Very addictive! When first starting the game it seems as if it will be too simple, but as you progress the game gets more and more difficult. The only thing that keeps this game from being excellent is that I wish you had the ability to take off and land on every mission rather than just a few. great graphics and sound!

FANTASTIC GRAPHICS. GREAT MULTI PLAYER MODES. COMBATIVE, CO-OPERATIVE... DOGFIGHT, MISSION, ETC. MANY LEVELS. TAKES AWHILE TO GET USED TO THE CONTROLS- EITHER STICK SHIFT- YOUR CONTRALLER MANUAL BUTTONG AND STICKS, OR JUST BY MOVING YOUR CONTROLLER UP, DOWN , SIDEWAYS, ETC. JUST LIKE REAL FLYING!! A+++++++.

The graphics are excellent. One of the best fighter pilot games I have played on the 360. You will not be disappointed with this game especially if you are a WWII fan.

THIS GAME WAS ALOT OF FUN BUT WAS VERY TOUGH TO BEAT. THE 2 PLAYER VS MODE OR XBOX LIVE WAS REALLY ALOT OF FUN. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A GAME TO REALLY MAKE YOU WORK THIS IS THE GAME TO GET.

Blazing Angels is a good game. I suggest staying away from the single player for the most part. The mutiplayer is the best part of the game. The only downsides is that there is the same horrible voice-overs that I wish would go away. Also that finding certain game types such as capture the flag can be hard. Finding other players can be hard over all.

In the end, if you can get this game for a good price and want a good arcade shooter like Crimson Skies for the Xbox, the I would buy this game.

I really enjoyed this game. After getting used to the flight controls it was a blast. I like that you reenact actual battles from WWII. I actually purchased this game as my first Xbox 360 game. I would recommend it to anyone that likes flight Sims.

Very fun and new game. I was a big fan of Ace Combat for PS2 and this title offered the same type of game play but more WW2 style. The best scene was the D-day attack on the beach. If you want a good mix of air and land targets along with perfect graphics this is the game for you. Very fun and very hard to beat. This took 8 hours to beat and has an awesome online feature.

I bought this game for xbox 360 because I love war games. This game is awsome compared to other flight games. The planes are real looking and they move and fire like the real thing too. This game is also a chalenging game, wich is great, I mean, who wants to get a game and have it be so easy that it can be beat in a day or too. In cunlusion, I'm hopeing more games like this one will be available in the future, even with planes from today.

Excellent representation of a WWII flying battles. Graphics are great and the controls are perfect. Defiantely check it out if your into flying games!

This game is great for any WW2 fan. It kinda hard in the begining but you get use to it after some time. Missions are long and some what challeging. So if any like Planes of WW2 then you have too have this game in your collection.

I like the general idea of the game, just the story line is kinda far fetched. I wish the story line had a little more to it.

Good arcade game with excellent WWII-era planes. Enjoyed the game thoroughly. Although the graphics have aged considerably since new developments on the Xbox 360 system, it still maintains a sense of realism. Excellent game for sitting down and having fun.

Great Price, the product in excelent conditions, fast and cheap shipping & handeling. It was a great experience although it was a trans continental trade, I love e-bay and think its the best site in buying and selling on the net.

It works fine now, but we had to buff it out, which was a slight charge. All in all, a good deal. We did receive it in a timely manner, which was appreciated.
