  A Perfect Combination
Review created: 11/05/09(updated 11/05/09)

This bundle is perfect for anyone who wants a combination of 2d/3d fighting, and anime in one set. The bonus discs include music and movies of the characters seen in the game and the game is flawless. In my opinion, this game is a combination of some of the greatest fighting games of all time such as KOF, Guilty Gear, Soul Calibur, and Street Fighter. The gameplay is smooth and accurate with flawless graphics and combos at your fingertips. It is very surprising to see a new company deliver such an amazing fighting game. One would think a game with this calibur could only be produced my SNK or Atlus but in fact it's by a company that I personally have never heard of before: AKSYS
I highly recommend this game for anyone/everyone who likes good graphics and epic fighting.
5/5 stars for the game itself and 5/5 stars for the bonus discs.
This limited edition set will not leave you unsatisfied, guaranteed.

  Great Game
Review created: 10/29/09

It really is a great fighter to enjoy. Some may be turned off by the few rooster, but unlike other fighters this one brings each character much depth, and things to constantly learn. Not one is the same which gives you hours to explore each ones true potential. Defiantly worth the look at if your into fighters or anime..... best PS3 fighter pre-Tekken.

  BlazBlue, 2d fighting greatness.
Review created: 09/29/09

Tired of rehashed characters in every Street Fighter? Tired of King of Fighters adding block after block of characters you'll never play with? Tired of huge blanace issues? Want more technical fighting gameplay than you can shake a stick at?

BlazBlue is the answer. While it may only have 12 characters, each one brings something unique to the table and each one performs very differently from the next. There is no learning one character and knowing another five because of it. As far as fighting games go the story is actually well-told and intruiging. A must buy for any avid 2d fighter fan.

  BB > SFIV

Blazblue with it's beautiful HD graphics, backgrounds, soundtracks, stories and it's great game play with very different play-styles of each character totally outplays Street Fighter IV.

SFIV was fun for a couple of minutes, but it was never the same like ST and 3rd Strike.

I'm glad I repurchased Blazblue on the PS3 (I had it for the 360, but moved everything I owned to the PS3).

Thank you Arc System Works for making such an amazing game.

  Blaz Blue: Calamity Trigger
Review created: 09/04/09

If you are a fighting fan, and love deep fighters this game is for you. This purchase was made for my friend, but I put my fair share into the game as he did. The extra contents are nice, The tutorials for the characters are done by a familiar voice you might recognize from IGN, she does the same voice over for her mini show on XBL. The artbook is luscious, and highly detailed, and it is definitely one of my favorite Special Editions of a game (It even beats Halo 3 because of quality's sake) The game itself is great, but there is one major flaw in it. It has one of the steepest learning curves I've ever seen, unless your a fighting game veteran you will get pwned online again, and again till you want to take this game back to the store. A word of warning for first time fight gamers.

  BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger Review

The characters are so different from each other, the story is actually good and makes sense, the characters really distinguish from each other and have no real clones, and the fighting is easier to learn than other fighters, yet has tons to master.

Capcom is a company responsible for much invention in the fighting game field, and of its hit and miss attempts to push the medium forward, X-Men vs. Street Fighter was the defining point in a new era of 'manic' fighting games. With the action cranked to eleven, it redefined the genre in a new, frenzied form. Although Arc System Works' Guilty Gear is no idle rip-off, it has drawn influence from Capcom's crossover series.

Even if its complexity can be eluding, with beautiful anime styling, heavy-metal themes and wildly overblown combos, there's no denying its spectacle. With Guilty Gear, the Yokohama-based developer has not only raised the profile of 2D fighting games over the last ten years, but has itself become a recognised power in the field.

In light of this success it's unfortunate to learn that, through a legal loophole, Arc System has lost the Guilty Gear rights to SEGA Sammy Holdings. It's no surprise then that it's urging fans to adopt its latest fighting game, BlazBlue, in its place.

Running on Taito's Type X2 hardware, BlazBlue is one of the first 2D fighting games to be designed from the ground up in high definition. It's very similar to Guilty Gear in style, with similarly vibrant graphics and an even crisper display. The backgrounds are in 3D, but with enough detail and colour depth to sit comfortably with the foreground sprites. Initially the designs don't quite leap out at you like some of the better Guilty Gear locales; but little touches, like the influence of certain moves on Rachel's rose garden and some impressive background activity, really lend the game atmosphere.

Although the high-definition display hasn't improved the animation much beyond Arc System's already excellent standard, BlazBlue's ten original characters are distinct, colourful and vivid. But, despite obvious artistic similarities, they aren't as initially striking or appealing as the Guilty Gear line-up. With Ragna, the sword-toting Sol Badguy replacement, it's clear Arc System hasn't lost its affection for belts and buckles. Blond-haired Jin bears a close resemblance to Ky, as does his female counterpart, the gun-toting and annoyingly shrill Noel.

Tager is an obvious stand-in for Potemkin, steamrolling your energy bar with a repertoire of debilitating grab attacks, and Rachel and Carl have the whole gothic thing going on. Arkune, the game's token 'weird' character, presents the first opportunity to play as a demon from a Miyazaki flick, his warped design lifted straight from Spirited Away.

BlazBlue isn't as female-heavy as Guilty Gear, with Litchi being the only one to sport a set of proper high-definition boobs. The jury is out on what creepy cat-like Taokaka is meant to be, and that just leaves Bang, a fairly uninspired Ninja whose voice acting lends him great individuality.

What does stand out about the character roster is the amount of effort that has gone into giving the characters a tangible personality. The back-stories are particularly strong and shrewdly implemented. For instance, Noel and Jin's speech changes when they meet in battle, even extending to things they shout when throwing projectiles.

The first thing that's apparent about BlazBlue's fighting system is tha
