Blackbird * by Alter Bridge (CD, Oct-2007, Universal Republic)

Inspired by the guitarist Mark Tremonti memory of a bridge, which he was not allowed to cross as a child. (Located on the controversial Alter Road, at the intersection of Korte, “which forms the border between the city of Detroit, Michigan and the city of Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan.”) Alter Bridge is composed of Myles Kennedy (Lead Vocals; Guitar) and former Creed band members Brian Marshall (Bassist), Scott Phillips (Drummer), and Tremonti.

Unknowingly, I have been listening to Alter Bridge for quite some time now as their single, “Metalingus,” off the album, “One Day Remains” (2004) is the entrance theme of World Wrestling Federation (WWE) Superstar Edge.

Recently, during a road show of WWE Raw, “Rise Today” (Alter Bridge’ first official single of their sophomore release, “BlackBird”) was given some airtime and announced as the official theme song for Unforgiven 2007, a WWE per-per-view wrestling event.

It catchy…definitely something I can use at the gym :)

This is my personal favorite by the band. I can't help but to be reminded of Creed when I listen to all of Alter Bridge's releases but even though you can detect similarities this band really stands on its own. I was one of those people who bought Creed's first cd "My Own Prison" back when the band was new, I liked it because it was very well written, kinda dark, edgy and very melodic. Alter Bridge still evokes the sames feeling for me (which in my opinion Creed lost after the debut in '98). This is good driving hard rock music with a message. Excellent vocals (I believe better than Scott Stapp was or currently is) and hopefully the band continues moving in the same direction that Blackbird leads them down. This was, in my opinion one of the best cd's released in 2007.

This album is to the most extreme feeling of one's soul musicaly transpired in a never ending stream of God sending talent one could hope for by these very
renowned artist of our generation and with these few words I give a thank you........CREED/ALTER BRIDGE!!!!!

love mark tremonti's guitar playing; "rise today", "before tomorrow comes", and "watch over you" are shining stars. "blackbird" is a haunting melody. There are times Myles Kennedy seems a little off key, but overall, this is a very good cd.

Alter Bridge are f... great!! I like playing their music in my guitar. I bought the original, I couldn't find it here in Greece... It's sold out!!!

Its a good CD the band has a sound very simaler to CREED ,The lead singer is even better.Looking forward to the next CD that they comming out with .

I was not very initially very impressed, but after listening them through a few times, I find them much better. Some start off one way, then change completely, so it is impossible to judge them by the short sample clips that you might see with them.

Apres l'achat et la découverte du groupe " Alter Bridge ", j'ai décidé de trouver le second album du groupe nommé " Blackbirds"
Après quelques recherches, j'ai enfin pu trouver cet album et 'acquerir.
Ce qui motivé mon choix, c'est l'attrait que j'ai pour ce groupe ainsi que pour leur premier album. La durée de l'album est convaicante ainsique le nombre de morceaux.
Par contre, la simplicité du boitier, se limitant à un simple boitier, est un peu décevant

One of the best albums I have ever heard! Had a chance to see this band live and they were awesome! If you have a chance to catch their show I highly recommend it!

I recently went to an alter bridge show in chicago and i was completely blown away, this made me want to buy this cd. i already had their debut album "One Day Remains" but this sophomore album takes the cake, it is much more polished and enjoyable to listen to in comparison to the first album. This is not to say that the first album is bad by any stretch of the imagination, but black bird is much better, listener beware, you may have to purchase this cd if you hear it

I love this band. I bought their first album and liked it a lot but it sounded a lot like Creed...well Duh...but I was hoping for something different. Blackbird filled the bill. Every single track is great but my favorites are Rise Today, Brand New Start and the poignant Watch Over You. Talk about soaring vocals....gives me goosebumps. This CD is highly recommended.

This cd further proves that these guys don't need Scott Stapp to rock!
If you enjoyed One Day Remains, get this album, too.

Incredible album, Five Stars. I never heard anything about Creed or Alter Bridge before this album came out. I saw it all the time at Target, and then finally decided to buy it. Then I found it on eBay, same album cheaper price. Plus, the one I got had 2 bonus tracks. It was used but in great condition, as the seller mentioned. So now I like Alter Bridge, (and Creed) and this album (Blackbird) is awsome. I highly reccommend this for the Creed fans who were very displeased when they broke up. FYI, this is AB's second album. Former members of Creed come together on this CD to kick ass. From the first song on the CD, Ties that bind, to the last song Wayward One, the boys got this CD down! The cd contains everything from great guitar riffs to mellow softer music. If you were a Creed fan before, you will LOVE Alter Bridge. Especially this new cd that has a New Sound!

I didn't give their first cd a chance, but now I will because BLACKBIRD has been playing NON STOP at my house- in my car and on my IPOD. These guys are brilliant song writers- there are NO cheesy chord changes. The lyrics are great- the musicianship is great- I can't pick a favorite song because they all rule. I have already purchased two for my friends after someone believed in this cd dso much that they bought it for me. It was the best gift EVER!

Wow. I expected a run-of-the-mill album with a couple of stand-out tunes, but this CD turned out to be amazing front to back! Some hard-hitting hard rock tunes, with some incredible rock ballads mixed in. The guitar work is simply incredible on this album, although all instruments work cohesively to create an amazing collection of epic songs. Great vocals.

Blackbird improves on their killer debut album. Buy this CD, and enjoy!!
