Bottom line:

The Good: The Blackberry Curve 8310 has a scratch-resistant finish, doubled up with a great bright screen, makes this phone just as attractive to a 12 year old as to a 80 year old, and everywhere in between. The phone features a great camera, video recorder, and makes a great note taker.

The Bad: This Curve model currently doesn't support WiFi, which is pretty strange, since most phones do. The battery life isn't too great if you text most of the day through, or listen to music. Most of the features that are more popular can't be accessed without a media card, especially the video recorder.

--

When I got this phone, I loved it. It was very addicting, actually-- I bought everything I needed for it within the first week and a half.. The essentials, like a media card and a silicone case.. I didn't buy a screen protector, as the phone screen is mostly prone to staying strong through wear and tear. The screen does get dust under the screen, but its very minimal, and unless you work somewhere where your phone is under constant attacks, this phone is great-- for anything.. Call quality is great, interface is good.

  Great phone, yet far from being a leader

The original BlackBerry Curve was a huge success, and RIM decided to play the Curve game again and build in GPS
with the Curve 8310. Does it offer enough "bang" to upgrade? Find out after the jump.

The Curve 8310 still has the same 2.4 inch screen, the same killer keyboard, the same 2 megapixel camera, and the same thin and light form factor we've come to love. The major difference is that the 8310 has GPS functionality built-in provided by TeleNav and the Curve now comes in two colors, titanium and red. The $9.99 per month service allows you to get full GPS coverage with a standalone GPS, but brings it into the smartphone realm so you don't have to lug around two devices.

The 8310 still is a great phone, the call quality is excellent and the speakerphone is very loud. It's 2 megapixel camera is still the not the best, producing somewhat soft images both indoors and out. The media player is pretty basic, but it probably isn't the main use of such a business-oriented phone. We're still kind of wondering why the MicroSD card slot is still behind the battery though, but we're happy they stuck with the 3.5 mm headset jack (why get rid of it?).

Web surfing isn't the best experience, and doesn't offer the same formatting you would receive on say, an iPhone or your notebook computer.

Using the TeleNav GPS Navigator in the Sacramento area and it worked great. Some nice features were the ability to use the GPS in pedestrian mode, since it's much more portable than a regular GPS mode. We also liked that it asked for what route style we wanted: fastest, traffic optimized, shortest, prefer streets, prefer highway, or pedestrian.

One feature we would have liked on the 8310 is 3G support for high-speed data connectivity, are we still living in an EDGE world? Overall, the BlackBerry Curve line of devices still impresses us, from the unprecedented email capabilities, to the sleek design. If you don't need GPS however, stick with your current Curve 8300 until a larger upgrade becomes available. The BlackBerry Curve 8310 is available today from AT&T for $149 with a 2-year contract.

Pros
* Sleek and light design.
* Built-in GPS capability.
* Loud speakerphone, decent call quality.

Cons
* Still no 3G support.
* MicroSD slot still behind the battery.

  Most awesome phone I have owned

I have been a Palm PDA user for years and until I got this phone, I have always had a PDA as well as a cell phone. Having to carry two electronic devices was beginning to be aggravating so I researched the new Blackberry PDA phones and decided to give one a try. I can't believe how easy it was to "sync" my Palm PDA with my Blackberry and actually copy ALL of my Address Book over AS well as all my calendar events! It was absolutely EASY, using the Blackberry Desktop Software'a SWITCH devices utility. Now, I have everything on my phone: Contacts, Addresses, Calendar events, appointments, MP3 player, Video player and all my tasks and memos TOO! The navigation took a little time to learn, but by the end of one week, I can move everywhere in the phone easily. To top it off, I bought a 8 GB MicroSD card and installed it in the phone and now I have more storage on the phone than I did in my old MP3 player! I have all my songs, photos and family videos on the phone as well.
It is a great device and I'm very pleased. You will be too!

  blackberry 8310 curve - blue
Review created: 12/16/09

i decided to buy this phone because it was a good price, now that i received it i can see why it was cheap, the phone was listed in "good" condition. phone actually shows heavey usage on it, alot of the blue colour of the phone is chipped off. the trackball doesnt "click" when you push it, when you push hard it selects items. I sent the seller a question regarding the trackball but never recieved an answer. The condition of the colour and housing of the phone doesnt bother me, i planned on changing it anyways but the trackball issue is not what i wanted.

Oh well, live and learn, i guess some people just want to sell to make money and not worry about what there selling and the quality.

Bid and won a blackberry curve 8310, red in color. Reasonable price for a used blackberry. still in great conditions, few scratches but nothing major. Everything included with the phone, in its original box.

The Blackberry 8310 is a marvelous phone. The Pearl (too small, don't like the keyboard) and Bold (very expensive but has all the same features) come together in this perfect sized palm pilot with many great features. Highly recommended.

THE CELL PHONE IS A FAKE. THE SELLER CLAIMED IT TO BE A ATT 8310 BLACKBERRY. THE ADDRESS THEY GIVE TO RETURN DOESN'T EXSIST. THE PHONE CAN NOT BE USED IN THE UNITED STATES. ITS A INTERNATIONAL PHONE. CAN'T MAKE LOCAL CALLS OR TEXT. ITS A VODAFONE, FROM CHINA. THEY JUST PUT A ATT FACE ON THE PHONE. THE REASON I PURCHASED THAT PHONE IS BECAUSE EBAY GAVE THE MERCHANT A 5 STAR RIBBON. THERE WERE ALOT OF PHONES CLAIMING TO BE ATT BLACKBERRY'S, BUT EBAY RATED THIS MERCHANT. PHONE IS A FAKE AND SO IS THERE ADDRESS.

  Great phone for the money!

I bought this phone to replace an iphone that i accidentally washed, and I thought I would be very disappointed because of the obvious downgrade. Surprisingly I have had this phone for 3 days now and love it! I'm even considering getting a Blackberry Bold on my next upgrade. The phone gives you a sense of community with other blackberry users by letting you chat instantly with them. I like the way the text messaging is thread style also, that makes it easy to keep up with multiple conversations. The only thing I don't like about the phone is not having 3g, and not having a "true" web browsing ability. It also seems like you have to pay for a lot of apps/addons/extras if you want them.

  Love my BlackBerry!

I do love my BlackBerry, but it will freeze up every once in a while. It's rare, but it does happen. I have to take the battery out to reset it, but it takes less than a minute. Aside from that, I have no issues with it. It has LOTS of applications, and the BlackBerry plan costs less than the iPhone plan does. It's fast and effective and it's really good about letting me know when I need to update the software. I really have no complaints. I monkeyed around with my best friend's iPhone, and I really do prefer my BlackBerry.

  Product complaint.
Review created: 12/03/09

The phone was as described with no battery, and scuff marks on the face. That was O.K. with me, however, he claimed it " was in like new condition". I purchased a battery for the phone for $ 41.00, tried two other batteries, and it will not recognize any battery making it totally useless.
Buyer beware I guess?????
Thanks,
Paul Damphouse

  curve is a solid phone

i like the blackberry o.s. better than windows mobile. The simplicity that blackberry sticks to gives the iphone a run for its money. However, being the original blackberry device its purpose was to bring the internet and email to your phone. convenience is still a number one for blackberry; instead of focusing on apps and other aspects they stay simple and true to the consumer. overall, great product would highly recommend the blackberry curve.

This is a good phone. Does basic cell phone items.
Plus it does have email, internet and text messaging utilities.
The design is not an Iphone but it does the job.
It is a good quality product with possibility to upgrade with a memory card. You can store images, Mp3 music, etc.
I do like my blackberry curve.

  Well Worth It

I really love this device. It allows me to have access to communications at work and for personal use without having to have a laptop and then locate a space with Wi-fi. I travel alot so having GPS on the phone is handy, as it allows me to find places wether I'm driving or walking. I decided to purchase this item for those reasons mainly. After going to the store to price this BlackBerry i found it was $400.00 without a contract and even with a new 2-year contract I was still $99.99 after the rebates.

The cell phone had more serious scratches and nicks than described. I was debating about whether I should have filed a claim. But I considered it a lesson learned.

I decided to buy it as a replacement for my iPhone. I prefered the better reliability of the BlackBerry Curve 8310 and its keypad over the iPhone's touch screen.
