This is my third Blackberry, and of all of them, this is my favorite. It has:
1. The bright, big screen gives you a wonderful space for viewing all of the functions. It certainly makes it easier to view webpages if you have the Blackberry internet package. The screen is in bold, beautiful color with customizable themes that give you the option of icons or lists - whichever is more comfortable for your use.
2. This phone has a QWERTY keyboard, which makes texting a whole lot easier. Capitalizing a letter is easy too - just hold the key for a couple of seconds. I also love the space button.
3. Changes in the user buttons are easy to get used to. Instead of a trackwheel and "back" button on the side, the new trackball and "back" buttos are located on the front along with the answer, menu and end buttons. The only buttons on the side of the phone are the Push To Talk button on the left and the volume keys on the right. The Power and Mute buttons are still located on the top.
4. EDGE technology allows you to access the internet quickly. Pages pull up faster than ever. What it doesn't have - 3G, but in most places, that doesn't really matter because 3G speed is not available everywhere anyway.
5. The 8800 has a large selection of tunes, alarms, notifiers and other sounds to choose from. You also have the option of using music tones, voice tones and answer tones just like any other phone.
6. Customization for callers. You can customize rings and add pictures for different users. I like that because it allows me to identify who's calling without having to look at the phone.
7. Media player - Blackberry has added a media player to the 8800 series. It sounds great. Syncing it with your computer and adding music via the desktop manager is easy to do. I recommend that you have an SD media card. You can add music, videos, ringtones and pictures.
8. The Blackberry 8800 is a beautiful phone. Its beauty isn't just skin deep. It is a truly functional Blackberry, with the usual Blackberry functions. Syncing it with your computer to keep up with calendar notations, tasks and your address book is as easy as pie.
9. Great battery strength. I had it on all day and talked quite a bit, and the battery was still good to go for much longer.
10. It is bluetooth capable with the ability to be paired with more than one device at a time (pairing is easy as well).
11. The speakerphone is loud and very clear. The volume of the phone's ringing is also loud. With some other phones, I had to set it to high to hear them in certain situations. I have this one set to medium and am considering setting to low when I'm in the office.
12. GPS option - if you want to pay the additional price for this service, it is a great tool. I saw it in action at the store when I bought it, and it's cool.
What does it not have? It doesn't have a camera, or the ability to do videos, but if that is not an important consideration, this is the perfect Blackberry. It has the perfect combination of business and play.

This is a great phone all around. I did a bunch of research on similar smartphones for my carrier (Cingular), and the only other phone currently to be any competition is the Cingular 8525. Without going into the gritty details, I will say that in my opinion, the 8800 is the better phone.
Why: Well, first the call quality is extremely clear on the 8800, where the 8525 is merely good. For a guy like me who has spent many years on firing ranges, that is a big deal.
Then there is the fact that you can more easily use the 8800 one handed. Using the 8525 (again in my opinion), is futile at best. Yes the the touch screen on the 8525 is nice, but its not practical while driving. I can't condone this practice, but can admit that we all do it (wink wink). The keys on the 8800 are small, but they are very tactile, and well defined, and the trackball is really easy to use.
Finally, I really liked the voice dialing. Its pretty easy to use once you understand how it works.
I have been extremely pleased with this phone and it is probably the best phone that I have ever owned...and with so much more. There are so many other aspects of the phones operation that I havent touched on, but rest assured that if I had any real complaints, I would have listed them.
Anyhow, I hope this helps...
UPDATE: Its now October 07, and I am more pleased than when I first wrote the review. I LOVE THIS PHONE, and my wife likes it so much, she is buying the Curve(basically an 8800 with a camera).

One of the best in the series. Very easy to use, full of features, and easy to navigate with one hand. The screen is one of the brightest on the market(This is my 4th generation with RIM.
Leather case with fold over clasp is an improvement from the 8700 series.

Love this phone! Very Sturdy and dependable! This truly is one of the best phones ever made! Finally apple comes out with software to catch up with capabilities of this phone! (Email,Texting,Forwards)
If you are hunting for a toy then this is not the phone for you! Does not have a camera, which is a plus in going into and out of certain governmental buildings and agencies that forbid camera phones!
Yes I know that capabilities of the New Blackberry and the new I phones, however for the price and the sure dependability, as well as phone that can take being dropped occasionally, this is by far the better phone! This is the phone I use for now! Blackberry Bold? Apple Iphones? Well I give them away for gifts to my children! LOL
PS. The Bold has captured my interest!

This is a great blackberry phone. The size is perfect and the qwerty keyboard is easy to use even with larger fingers. The 2 items missing from this phone are a camera and wifi access. The camera wasn't important to me however the ability to access wifi would be a nice addition. The 8820 has wifi so that would be the better choice for features. Overall this is a nice blackberry to own and I am not disappointed in my purchase.

I bought new Blackberry 8800 three weeks ago and was immediately impressed with the number of features existing on this easy on the pocket phone. It has wonderful speakerphone. It size is perfect comparing other PDA phone I used, also the weight is acceptable convenient when carrying in a pocket and the battery has a pretty good lifespan that surprised me. Its menu system is easy, but my note on this phone is that it not equipped with camera. But other synchronization with outlook was great and I’m using it as organizer, I have no chance to test it as phone since it was locked to other operator and I’m trying to get the full benefits. Taken as a whole, I'd recommend the phone if you're on a budget.

I didn't get anything to write a review on. I first experience with an ebay purchase has been stressful and troublesome. The seller became unregistered and I had to file a claim with PayPal to get my money back. This claim is still pending.

Blackberry 8800This is a great phone. It has a lot of great options and it is easy to use. The keyboard took a little while to get use to but once I used it for a while ad got use to it and no its great. The display is great I love the size of the screen and the pictures, backgrounds or whatever you put on it shows up with great quality. The track ball is wonderful. And also the LED light indicator is a wonderful thing so you don't always have to turn on your phone to check if you have a missed message or if you have service.

also battery life is good and syncing up your email with it is a snap.
What I do not like that it cannot stream/or record video off the internet
but that was a planned limitation and not a flaw as I had learned. And it doesn't have a camera but I've learned to live without one for now. I was new to
blackberry's but now I love this phone. I purchased this phone because my Razr 2 broke and I needed a new phone.
also battery life is good and syncing up your email with it is a snap.

blackberry 8800I really like this phone. I have a Iphone also and just wanted some buttons in my like:) This phone has a lot of things you can do with it but i did not like how its kind of difficult to set up your setting on the phone.

this phone is an expensive phone and i got it at a good price. its nice but has no camera and is kindof hard to use. Also i had to buy a new battery and charger since the ones i got were no good. Im not sure how to turn on the bluetooth and the manual doesnt help any. i bought it because my boyfriend wanted a blackberry and i thought this one looked nice.

Excellent EXTERIOR condition! When buying "Unlocked" cell phones on ebay be careful to read all of the instructions on both the "return policy and unlocke" information. I did encounter a few cliches, but I do like the phone overall. It freezes up at times, but hey...don't all phones.

blackberry 8800 unlock from cingular or attIf you buy a new one that is was not locked before then you are buy a good unit. set back it does not include wifi so if what one get 8900. it has all the functions that you need.
