The Black Stallion movie

I remember reading the Black Stallion books when I was in junior high school. Then they made a movie from the story in the first book. The Black Stallion movie is fairly true to Walter Farley's tale. And what's not to love?
A young boy takes an adventurous trip home from Arabia, sharing the freighter he's aboard with a nearly wild black Arabian stallion. The ship sinks and the boy and the horse are the only two survivors. They wash up on an uninhabited island and must depend upon each other for their very lives. They develop a bond that only they understand. The boy gentles the horse and is granted the opportunity of the ride of his life on the horse's back.
They're finally rescued and travel back to the boy's home in New York. The boy boards the horse at the barn of an old race horse jockey. Henry, the old jockey, played by Mickey Rooney, instructs the boy in riding technique but is surprised by the amazing speed of the black horse. He begins to dream of the race of a lifetime.
This is a great family film but somewhat hard to find on the shelves at the local department store. Naturally, eBay was the first place I looked for it. This purchase will be passed along as a birthday gift to a young lady about to turn seven years old. She loves to ride horses and I'm sure she's going to love this film.
