Though this disc is packed with lots of great new and old gutbucket blues-rock from the Black Keys, North Mississippi All-Stars, R. L. Burnside and more, the real draw is the four cuts played and sung by Samuel L. Jackson with a crack backup band. Though he’s not a musician, Sam brings his acting to bear on some intense, fearsome renditions of “Stack-O-Lee” and the title track that stand up pretty well to the real thing.
