This is an excellent detailed book about the early days of world war 2 in the pacific. While concentrating on the naval career of Admiral Fletcher duing that time, it give a wonderful insite on what it was like in those early days just after Pearl Harbor.
The book also shows that while some of our naval heroes are well know. And these include Nimitz, Halsey, Spruance and King, that others also served with distinction in those trouble times including Admiral Fletcher.
And I believe in Admiral Fletcher we have an example of a great fighting Admiral who's greatness has been overlooked. And who did the best he could with what he had.
