Black Genealogical Guide
I bought "Black Roots: A Beginner's Guide to Tracing the African American Family Tree" as a resource for doing genealogical research on my
maternal great grandfather and his family.
The methods and techniques provided in this book helped me to streamline my approach and, therefore, work more efficiently. Also, reading "Black Roots" preprared me for the inevitable road blocks that are a part of looking for Black ancestors. Just as importantly, it provided me with effective ways to overcome them.
Just applying what I have learned about conducting oral histories, getting and staying organized, and using unusual sources for information are worth far more than what I paid for the book! This gem doesn't stop there, though. It is chock full of information and is enabling me to actually get a lot done while actually having so much more fun!
