Black Petal Rose by John Thompson (2006, Paperback)

black petal rose is a bit of a mixed bag of poems. However, the majority of pieces (especially my favourites) follow the general theme of triumph over despair, being delivered from darkness, or being afraid to fall again. I found these works exuded a great deal of raw emotion that jumped off the page and into my being. I could feel the heartbreak, the fear, and the gloom resonate with something deep inside me. This effect was made all the more profound in the pieces that then brought the reader out of this bleak place and into a place of hope and triumph.
