Black & Decker ODC400 10-Cup Coffee Maker

I really liked the machine. I needed to replace my older model that I did in and as I require counter space wanted a spacemaker again. Some good points in other review they are correct about pouring being slow and the coffee not staying hot very long. I miss the light in the clock and timer area I had on the old one too. You have to have the light on to set it or see the time. I would watch for these things next time for sure but I got a great deal!

I wanted a coffe maker that would make the coffee and put it in a container I could set on the coffee table so you don't have to constantly get up to refill your guests or your own coffee cup while entertaining or even just sitting around watching a movie!

This coffee maker is very attractive and works very well and quickly. The feature with the programmable buttons OVER the water are great, because that way water doesn't leak into the electronics and short them out. The carafe is a nice size and shape and it is very easy to clean and keep neat looking. The draw backs to this product are several and I would not buy one again, much to my disappointment.

First of all, I really wanted a black one since coffee stains and you have to constantly scrub this to keep it white! Also, the carafe doesn't keep the coffee hot for very long. It does keep it warm, however.

Also, the shape of the carafe is too round and the last cup of coffee gets caught in the "shoulders" of the pot, making tipping the carafe upside down necessary to get the last of the coffee out.

The worst problem with this product is that you turn the lid partially to a spot marked "pour" with an arrow. The coffee comes out very slowly and if you don't have it just right over the spout, the coffee dribbles everywhere.

The idea is wonderful, but some adjustments really need to be made to this product. Our house is for sale and we are leaving the coffee maker with the house!

Love the idea..My only problem is pot has to narrow pour spout. it leaks on counter eveytime!! Like having the space on counter , love having thermal pot it stays heated quite well. Auto programming to have coffe ready when you rise of the morning. It just needs to redwsign the pour spout!

Love it for the special fetures it has, such as auto set and space saving option, not to mention the excellent coffee it produces!

This is the coffee pot that came in our rv when we bught it. The pot should be filled with hot water to pre heat it while filling the water tank and adding the filter and grounds. This helps keep the coffee hotter. It does dribble a little when you are pouring if you try to pour to fast. We have used it in our rv for 3years and are satisfied with it.

Years ago, I had a B&D Spacemaker under counter carafe coffeemaker at home and at the office. The coffee stayed hot all day, without becoming toasted.

I was looking for a coffeemaker for my daughter's dorm room especially one that could be mounted under a shelf, and one where the water carriage could be carried from the hall water source, inserted without the need to pour, thus avoiding a potential mess in her room. The thought of a stainless steel carafe that would be less likely to break was also a motivating factor. I anxiously hoped this model would be even better than the two of ten years ago.

This unit is larger and far more bulky. The water carriage worked flawlessly. The coffee came out exactly as expected. But the Carafe, unlike its predecessors, did not seal at all. The coffee was therefore neither portable nor hot after a few minutes. I do not know whether the carafe was faulty, or the designer was incompetent. Either way, the purchase was a big disappointment.

I shall not buy another.

I bought this particular coffee maker because we needed something in a more compact size, to fit underneath our cabinets and because we drink ALOT of coffee. With our previous coffee makers, the longer the pot sat on the heated surface the more it began to taste too strong or "cooked". With the Black & Decker you have the thermal carafe. This keeps the coffee hot for several hours and fresh. It never gets that "old" taste. I also like the fact that the carafe is cool to the touch on the outside, not hot like regular glass pots.
On the down side, I don't know if it's the way the screw top lid is made or what but once you pour the first couple of cups and you begin to have to tilt the pot up higher the coffee runs down the side of the pot and pools all over the counter. Kind of a pain so we hold our cups over the sink to fill them.
