Gorgeous Stainless Blender Heavy Base Rock Solid Motor
Review created: 07/20/08

This Black & Decker BL5000 ProBlend 5-Speed Blender was recalled...and they do not sell this model anymore. They do make similar ones.

I ordered a new blade (FREE) from a consumer recall link..and it was quickly shipped FREE along with a new gasket. Frankly the OLD serrated blade seemed to work fine so I stored it /and the gasket.

The Blender is absolutely beautiful stainless steel with a heavy base and a rock solid motor.

The pitcher is glass.

The Black plastic lid, fits ok and has a removable insert. The lid is the most fragile part.

Although this is an excellent Blender...there are warnings NOT to leave it plugged in. Seems the motor has a life of its own and comes on usually while you are sleeping. SCARY...huh?

The old blender crapped out on me...while I puried Two...batches of tomatoes. I bet I did not use the blender more than 25 times. NUTS. Pillsbury Brand I think.

NUTS>>> Blenders overheat, and POOF the cheap Chinese (sorry if that offends you) capacitors or something..lock up.

CAVEAT...Blenders that you use a lot NEED to BE commercial models.

If you don't buy a commercial model, then pulse gently or don't overheat...and wait between batches,...and plan on buying a new Blender anyway every three years.

I read lots of negative reviews ...from those that blend smoothies every day...well...honestly you need commercial for that. No it's not YOU and your unrealistic expectations..it is just Chinese make JUNK. Chinese Blenders are just not built well. The CHINESE don't make stuff cheaper..it is made more cheaply...they just use inferior products and materials.

They tell me a beehive Oster is the most rock solid of the old blenders...and they don't make them like they used to.

So, while I always unplug the Black and Decker (just in case it wants to self start..and possibly start a fire)...it works beautifully, is quite solid, has a very strong motor and looks very good.

Finest looking Blender I ever owned...nice stainless with Black.

So I scored it Excellent...for a cheap Chinese blender, THAT IS...fire hazard..safety recalled and no longer made. Get used to it.

I found plenty of Black and Decker bashing on the web, too.

It does have an electronic front panel..and I think I read that gets crazy too.

So while I have some potential concerns..I doubt if this thing lasts more than a few years...I got this USED with a $10 discount Ebay shipping coupon deal... and she is a beauty. She works great (caveat ...for now).

And Uh, I did not know about the recall, and safety hazards UNTIL after I bought it. But when it arrived it was so stunning..and worked so well. The seller said something about wanting a tougher model...boy THAT is suspect...but I love the Blender. Better than the ugly old Pillsbury.
