After seeing last year's movie about this case, I wanted to read James Ellroy's book. I loved his description of Los Angeles after the war and the well thought out plot based on the actual case file. I read it in one evening and was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I got caught up in the sad story of this young girl's murder and and also in the story of the policemen trying to solve her murder. It is a haunting experience.

) I saw the movie and I wanted to read the book to see how much it was like the movie. I could barely get through the first 20 pages. There was too much 40's and boxing jargon that I didn't understand.
