Black Celebration by Depeche Mode (CD, Reprise)

I don't know why it took me so long to purchase it on cd. I wore the tape out. I could have downloaded it but sometimes one just has to have the actual product. Even though some of the music has some dark tones it reminds of some fabulous times and great concerts. A must have for Depeche fans.

You either love this one or you don't. This is my favorite Mode record. This record is best played start to finish because it is a true journey laced with a dark synth-based vibe with a sudo-pop feel.Great lyrics and industrial arrangements of synthesizers and drum machines. This record solidifies Depeche Modes iconic status as pioneers who definitely landmarked themselves in the hearts and minds of millions. This record has helped many through the angst, heartbreak,hard times and insecurity we came to know in our teenage years.

Depeche mode are 3 different band I think. Their early years are way too poppy to my ears, their last few years although incredibly artistic and still very good, lack the lyrical depth of the Depeche mode Black Celebration to Songs of period.

While in my eyes songs of faith is their best release, this one, although quite earlier, easily takes easy second place over Violator (which is also terrific).

Darker sound, lyrics that are well thought... You can see the sweated over this one.

Depeche Mode's Black Celebration marked a darker turn to their music. It can be argued that this album was one of the first of the *Goth* movement.
The songs here have an eerie otherworldly quality and Dave Gahans voice rises to the challenge on every one.
I am huge DM fan, so I really enjoy everything they produce.
If you have an 80s-90s collection of music, you should have this, too!

just love the music from this era and this is a great exaple. the songs
smack of that synth pop punk cutting edge music that i loved so much at that
time i would recommend it to anybody looking to listen to great 80's music.
