This is a classic comedy-mystery by Universal Studios from the year 1941. It is nicely packaged for this 1998 home video release and one the entire family will enjoy. The film has an impressive all-star cast that includes BASIL RATHBONE (of Sherlock Holmes fame), HUGH HERBERT, BRODERICK CRAWFORD, BELA LUGOSI, GALE SONDERGAARD, ANNE GWYNNE, GLADYS COOPER, CECELIA LOFTUS, CLAIRE DOOD, JOHN ELDREDGE and ALAN LADD.
The plot concerns a family who is gathered at an old spooky mansion to hear the reading of a will and instead all wind up trapped inside by a raging storm. One by one family members turn up dead and the identity of the murderer is keep cleverly concealed until the finality of the film making this a humorous and mysterious guessing game. HUGH HERBERT and BRODERICK CRAWFORD supply some laughs along the way. Highly recommended viewing!
This film is not to be confused with the earlier 1934 Horror Classic of the same name which starred BORIS KARLOFF and BELA LUGOSI.
