Black Book (DVD, 2007)

This movie captivates from start to finish with talented casting and performances. Although many of the scenes may appear harsh to some, harsher is the fact that similar scenerios, and even worse, occurred regularly to the Jewish population during this time. One scene in particular has gained critical popularity because of its sexual nature even though it is paramount to defining the plot. If you like intrigue and suspense this is a film for you. It has been produced wonderfully portraying the mannerisms, clothing and effects of the '40s and at times subtitled. This does not take away from the performances, rather enhancing them. I found the film exceptional and one when watched repeatedly does not lose its excitement and appeal.
