Outstanding performances by Barbara Stanwyck as an American blue-blood missionary and Nils Asther, a Swede actor playing the role of Chinese General Yen. And can you imagine a love-story between the two characters transpiring in a film of the 1930s! And it's a rivetting story playing off the chemistry of Stanwyck and Asther's Chinese persona.
