How often do you clean your carpets? I bought my bissell from target in June of 2006. kept the receipt.
Used it 3 times between June and January of 2007. I took very good care of it. Dismantled it to clean all the small rollers and rinse out the water bladder and such.
So I get it out to use it in late January. This would have been my 4th time using it. I filled up the water bladder and cleaning reservoir and powered up the matching. I was working in one particular area of my sons room, and it just didn't seem to be affecting the spot at all!. I went over it again and again, and even KEPT the spray trigger pulled (thinking this spot needed MORE solution). Still nothing. So I get down and feel the carpet. Dry as a bone. Make a long story shorter, I ended up pouring solution straight onto the carpet and then trying to suck it up. IT DIDN'T SUCK. Both the suction and the trigger for the solution had gone out.
Packed it up and took it back to target. No luck. No exchange after 80 days. Called Bissell. No luck. After 6 months you are on your own.
Did an internet search, and found that 90% of people claim their bissell motors go out after 6 months. AND it costs more to fix it than to buy a new one (around 200 bucks for this bissell). Apparently the motors were not made to be fixed or even accessed.

Mt advice? If you want to buy one, get it at walmart and exchange it every 60 days. Keep your reciept. Sounds like lousy advice, but what I really want to tel you is to not buy one at all and boycott bissell for being so difficult. Don't give them your money. You work to hard for it and they don't seem to care. They are in the business of selling these awesome carpet cleaners that only work a short time. Keeps them in business....
