Bissell 9200 Upright Cleaner

The Bissell 9200 is a fantastic machine with some "hotbutton" features that were a must as I shopped for a carpet cleaning device that was affordably priced for the average homeowner.

Here's some criteria that I had for my purchase:

* Must have an on-board heating element that would ensure hot water cleaning.
* Must have hose attachment for cleaning stairs, furniture, and auto interiors.
* Must have 12 amp motor with powerful suction and multiple brushes.
* Must be relatively light for hauling between 3 floor levels in my home.
* Must be priced under $200.00

The Bissell 9200 met all of the listed criteria, and cost considerably under the maximum price I had set for myself.

Some of the minor negatives with this unit would include the following:

* On-board attachment storage is somewhat in the way of the power cord at times.
* The unit holds one gallon of water requiring frequent trips to reload.
* Bissell shampoo is a bit pricey (about 15.00 a bottle) and won't last long if you set the cleaning mode to the "normal" setting. Setting it on "light" saves you shampoo and it is more than enough to get the job done.

Overall, I am very pleased with this unit and would highly recommend it for household use. It gets carpets clean and smelling fresh, and it saves you on hiring those "professionals" that come into your house and charge an arm and a leg to get the same results.
