So these cartoons were very interesting. I remembered vaguely what it was like when i was a kid, but i have no idea how it really was. this action pack super hero announces his name every time he goes to fly. He talks about himself in the 3rd. person and its just freain' halarious. i give it two thumbs up. much better than any cartoons they put on the tv now days.

  Wonderful sample of Alex Toth
Review created: 08/17/09

The great Alex Toth artwork graces many comics and sixties and seventies cartoons. Though less fluid than todays computer assisted animation; a veiwer can really appreciate the articulate manner in which the characters are portrayed.

  Cant forget the classics...
Review created: 08/17/09

I got this for my brother who loves the old classic cartoons and plus I myself am also a fan, but with all the cartoons on tv nowadays I feel like kids need these old 1960's and 1970s cartoons to know what superheros are all about. Most of the cartoons out that claim to be catering to a younger audience but they hardly do and borderline or being to explicit for young kids, but Birman and the Galaxy Trio is good for all ages. Evertime a person in there 40's or so sees me with one of these old cartoon DVDS they start telling me about how they loved them as a kid and it sticks in their memory. I'm not a parent yet but when I do have kids Im gonna make sure I let my kids see the classic cartoons because nothing bad comes from it.

Avenger means more to me than you could ever understand
Review created: 04/10/08(updated 04/18/08)

The above an actual quote from one of the episodes, it pretty much sums up the feelings of this old time Birdman fan.
Sure, the stories & acting are more than a little bit silly, but at least the former are imaginative & the latter enthusiastic.
And you get all these cool character designs by the late great Alex Toth. There is even a nice little documentary on this classic comic book artist & his contributions to this series at the end of one disc.
As for any problems, well, we are talking about Hanna-Barbera in the late sixties when their production quality was never all that consistent. I mean, Birdman's costume changes from shot to shot in the opening credits for goodness sakes!
As for picture & sound, they're about the same as on the old VHS tape that came out ages ago, but at least the colour don't suffer from bleed-through (spilling out over the black lines I mean) like they do on some of the old Scooby Doo movies that have been recently released on DVD.
And, let's face it, you are getting the entire series (minus, unfortunately, those neat little bumper segments they used to have between segments), so you can't complain too hard really.
The main problem, however, is the box that they come in.
The double-sided discs overlap & actually touch each other, & they can be a right devil to get out.
There have even been complaints of people opening up brand new sealed packages & discovering discs covered in scratches & fingerprints because the manufacturer had trouble putting them in there in the first place.
To top it all off, the box is made of solid cardboard so that you can't go get another more sensible plastic container & slide the cover in without the whole think looking like a gosh darn mess.
Still, other than that, I'm more than happy with the overall quality, & it is pretty cool to have this wonderful bit of nostalgic nonsense as part of my DVD collection.
If you're a fan of the original "Space Ghost" or want to see where the inspired wackiness of "Harvey Birdman, Attorney At Law" came from, I can recommend this collection.
