I have tons of books on Nixon, and at least three DVD biographies on his life. The A&E version like most of them are pretty hard to come by, but if you are engrossed with this man like I am, then it's worth the hunt. Covering his start from California, to his Congressional race, and then stepping his way to the White House, Nixon is a complex vision of America's current woes. Nixon had people he could trust, but he couldn't trust the world in general. He was seperated from the world by his own awkwardness but so pationately wanted to be accepted by it. Although he won the election he felt the need to cover his bases so badly that we all know what happened. In looking at politics today you can reflect to Nixon to understand why things are the way they are. The struggle with Democrats and Republicans existed long before Nixon, but today it has spilled on the streets, in every city and in every state with every normal citizen. It justified our lack of faith in the government and in the end lack of faith in each other. Before Nixon the President, or congress, or senate at one time or another could be trusted to look out for the nation. Since Nixon we don't feel that security, and during the Bush presidency and Pelosi Congress you see the war and stalemate that repeats itself yet again. Nixon is one of the greatest presidents in my mind, he just comitted occupational suicide by not understanding how to control the war that had gone on for over 100 years in politics. Since he fell, we all see how we need a man who is unshakable to wrestle the policy makers, and for the citizens to start caring about where their country is going again.
