Graphics: Breathtaking 10/10
The graphics are make you look twice – anyone fans of Art Deco, or even deep sea life will see the immediate beauty of this game. Take some time to watch the water and the detail of it.

Sound: Amazing – 9.5/10
The sounds, music, effects, and voices take you immediately into the game. Surround sound is a must so you can hear the uttering, chanting, and footsteps of the citizens of this underwater city.

Gameplay: Spectacular – 10/10
Smooth animations, large levels, smart enemies and A.I., different possibilities for battles and puzzles – without giving anything away, this game is different, and in a good way.

Replay Value – Amazing 9.5/10
Even without multiplayer, this game has high replay value. You get to choose your own path, make your own choices, all which effect the outcome of the game. The developers left out multiplayer to generate a perfect single player adventure – and they did just that.

Overall – Perfect 10/10
I am a fan of First-Person-Shooters (FPS) and all that is associated with them. This is a FPS technically, but it is so much more. The details and ideas that went in this game prove that risks are still being taken in game development, and they pay off.

Bioshock is labeled as a first person shooter, but it is so much more. It creates its own genre. It has elements taken from genres such as RPG, puzzlers, action-adventures, but is not pigeonholed into this experience. Spending time with this game, it is apparent that 2K games wanted to create a cinematic and different experience in a game – one not felt before.

Bioshock took a chance to be different, and it worked. This game is gorgeous, involved, and deep - and it is not the same experience twice. The gameplay and completion of the game is different for each user, which just shows you how much time and thought went into this game. With this much depth, it is hard to compare it to something, and you can’t right now, it is in a league of its own. Typically, when I play a game that I truly enjoy, I have a wow moment – maybe two. This game made me do that several different times. This game is definitely worth checking out, and I hope that it does not get lost in the shuffle with all the other great games coming out in the fall 2007 - This is a must buy!

Bioshock was and still is one of the most incredible games I have ever played in my entire life. The depth of this game is indescribable, you can't just say I've read some reviews and saw some clips on youtube and thought it looked decent.
"WHAT!" You have to at least, and I'm going to put some emphasize on that, AT LEAST rent the game! Your going to get sucked into this game and never want it to end! I rented it once played it, almost beat it, but then had to send it back.
I've recently just bought the game played from beginning to end and never stopped until I had uncovered raptures secret. I was so blown away that when I heard the second one was coming out I literally freaked out! Bioshock is a game of the year for sure! I don't want to ruin the story, but I'll just say you start out as a nothing and end as either a hero, or a greedy psychopath!

Get this game, I was rather skeptical about it at first but after I'd had a taste I had to have more! :D

BioShock could easy be seen to as an unofficially squeal the System Shock 2. After your plane crashes into icy uncharted waters, you discover a rusted bathysphere. a spherical deep-sea diving submersible which is lowered into bodies of water with a cable. You then descend into Rapture, a city hidden city beneath the sea. Constructed as an idealistic society for a hand picked group of scientists, artists and industrialists. The idealism is no more most of the people are dead or change in to some genetic altered creature. The once great city is now the city of the dead. BioShock is a unique game that mixes a spine chilling sound and music. Sounds of or random half crazy former Rapture citizen chanting, or footsteps of something approaching can be heard ad over all realism effect to a city that is nearly dead. The well design architecture levels are free for you to explore. But most of the time your to busy try to survive as you repeatedly slice your DNA to become more a powerful killing machine to stay alive. A sci-fi theme of biogenetic mutation and self-modification, along with a deep storyline with open-choice along with the freedom to interact with the world as you choose. This unique first-person action shooter requires you to think every time you pull the trigger similar to System Shock 2 which is still hail by many as one of the greatest game of all time. Bioshock holds many similar to System Shock 2 as varies types effect for each weapon, spooky atmosphere, hacking system and superior story line. System shock 2 was a master piece and that not a statement to take lightly. BioShock can also easily be seen as a master piece as well. Bioshock is like a quest of self discovery as you can choose to kill or not to kill little girls for unlimited power. Work against the moral consequences to obtain power or rescue the little girls know as sisters. The implications of the decision to intentionally murdering a ten-year-old girl for your own personal gain cannot be overstated, and BioShock will never let you forget what you've become whether it be savior or heartless super human bastard. Forced to survive in a a hidden city littered with corpses of the dead. Powerful guardians roam the corridors as little girls loot the dead, and genetically mutated citizens ambush you at every turn. Be warned, this game contains game contains Blood and Gore, Drug Reference, Intense Violence, Sexual Themes, Strong Language. I recommend for Mature audience. Besides it may scary some kids to death.

Buy this game and love it, undoubtedly playing through it at least two or four times. There is a huge variety of choices you can make coupled with the genuine consequences that follow require numerous play-throughs just so you can see what happens if you try something different. The game is rather short. It takes around 25 hours to complete more or less depending what you do. You may just be looking around being amazed by the art, sea life, under water effects and detail and all it's haunting artistic glory.

Put simply, BioShock is an unparalleled achievement. No other game comes even remotely close to it in terms of raw emotional connection. If you still want more after playing this I recommend System Shock and System Shock 2.

This game is the kind of game that shows what the next generation is all about. The graphics and physics of this game are absolutely incredible. The game play of this game is nice and fast, the AI is perfect, the weapons are even better. The fact that you can use everything as a weapon is sweet. The characters in this game are sweet. They are zombie looking characters that come out of dark areas and they really surprise you and scare you sometimes. This game is an absolutely must have for the xbox 360 and PC.

Another FPS on a console that will break within months, the same scenery and environment with some really really shiny textures, oh and not to mention the oversaturated colors enjoy

This game is like a good book, when your done playing it you want to pass it on to someone else so they can understand how good it really is. I know you look at the sci-fi FPS with a halo comparison but once into the game you realize it is far from it. I know not having multi player is a big set back and I am on your side with that one this game really does make up for lost value. This game will give you $60 worth of entertainment, its a longer game which is nice and all around is a safe bet and extraordinary experience and those who rated this a one obviously mentally ill or PS3ers.

Good solid gameplay. VERY creepy. Interesting concept. I say definately give this a try. Funny how Eldiablo611 is so quick to give this game a bad review, posted on the 15th, PRIOR to the game being available for purchase. How credible could that be?

I had fun reliving this game again after many months. I didn't get to complete the game the first time, but was able to this time and was not disappointed. I'm exited for the next installment: Bioshock 2.

The best graphics i've seen in a game. The way you're able to interact with EVERYTHING in the game is a first. Can't wait for the sequel in October.

I've played many shooters on the 360. From Fear to COD4 to Gears of War to GTA4 (if you count that as a shooter). The only game close to being as much fun to Bioshock is Gears of War.

Bioshock has the most gripping story line which entangles the player into the post World War II era. For me, the story line is what makes Bioshock better than the rest.

So in short, I'll just say that Bioshock has the best graphics (water!), best sound (both music and sound effects), intelligent AI, awesome weapon upgrades, the best story line.

The cons are that the replay value is really really low, contrary to what some people claim. Once you go through the game, you don't really want to play through it again. Also, the 360 has plasma downloads, which really ruin the game since they only cost 1 Adam to purchase. I recommend staying away from the 360 Bioshock downloads until you've went through the game once.

BioShock achieves what few video games ever do: it's completely letter perfect. The game is undeniably well rounded, with a deep and unexpected story, fabulous and committed voice acting, superb and unyielding art direction, and most of all an open-ended gameplay format that lets a player, in the words of GameTrailers, "play like a content Burger King customer: you really do get to have it your way." The gameplay is fast and fun, while the story has lots of undertones and subtleties that rewards players who have previous knowledge (the game is set after WWII and draws heavily from objectivist work, so fans of history and/or philosophy may find a deeper connection). From all standpoints, this game is a paramount of excellence in the industry, and hopefully won't be the only one of its kind.

played it around when it came out and loved it, the story, the setting, and the atmosphere. there truly has never been a game like it. Its Ayn Rand meets a horror movie, 20000 Leagues under the Sea meets a shoot em up action flick. Ever since then Ive been wanting the game but didnt want to pay 60 bucks. Im cheap, I know.

A little weird for me but my 17 yrs old loves the game play and story line. He tried to explain the story line but I guess you have to really sit down and play it from the start tot he end.

Amazing game. Bioshock is superb at giving an excellent story and providing great gameplay. RPG-ish with the make you're own ammo and how to use the environment to your advantage.

It has all the good characteristics of a shooter!!!! I had played the game at a freinds house and i decided i wanted it but it is very gory and blood y not recomended for younger audiences.

I love this game. This game has every thing from a great story to great game play. If your looking for a game with it all then get this game. This game feels like im playing in a movie, i cant wait for bioshock 2 and bioshock the movie which is due out 2010.

I kept reading reviews of how good this game is. Its not that I feel that it is a bad game. It seems like it is completely lacking challenge. If you get lost, they put a giant arrow to point where to go. If that didn't make it too easy, they added a way to get tips. If you die, you instantly wake up ready to go again. All of the damage that you did to whatever killed you before you died is still done. So if something kills you, just run at it again and do a little more damage. If it kills you again... oh well, you get the idea. This game leaves very little need to be skilled. You just have to be easily entertained by monotony.

I've been playing video games for 30 years, since the original Pong unit came out in the 70s, and let me tell you, this is the best game I have ever played. It has exceeded my expectations in design, adventure, scenery, storyline .... everything.

The day I received it, I sat down at 3 PM to take a break and test it out for about a half hour and became so engrossed, I didn't turn it off until 3 AM! Thats unheard of for me.

I highly recommend this to everyone.

Game is a lot of fun. I don't necessarily agree with it winning game of the year, but it's still a great game. Be prepared to be creeped out while playing though, since the story line is a little bizzare and enjoys making you jump every once in a while.
