  A Classic Comedy

This movie is by far both VERY FUNNY and TOUCHING. Matthew Broederick gives an outstanding preformance and his one liners are GR8! The entire cast is phenomenal, the casting was perfect.

Christopher Walken steals the movie as the half crazed Sgt. Toomey. To me, this is Walken at his finest. He should do much more comedy.

Probably the best part of the movie is the opening 20 minutes of the train ride of the troops to their training base in Biloxi, Mississippi. MB's comments of the heat when they arrive are hysterical.

There are too many scenes that crack one up and I do not want to ruin the movie.

Although this is a comedy and does not show the gore and trauma the troops saw in battle one scene does remind all of us what war really is. You'll know it when you see it. It's a nice break from movies like Platoon or Saving Private Ryan (movies that are excellent critical to showing us all what the horror of war is all about) but comedy relief is never bad.

I am proud to say that my late dad did his time on Iwo Jima and Okinawa and was one of the lucky ones to come home safe and raise a family. I admire and respect any man or woman who has served or are serving our country. And to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in all of the wars the USA was/is involved in (right or wrong)... gave us our FREEDOM...may they all RIP and be blessed. These men and women deserve nothing less than every Americans respect!

The closing voice over of MB describing his basic training and of WWII will make you well up. My only criticism is Neil Simon had to put in his two cents about this story being made into a/his movie...that to me was not necessary.

This is a movie that should be on any WWII fans shelf and should be watched with loved one's and friends for a pleasant break during our current rough time. The USA is strong and we will overcome this latest set back, we always do! If my patriotic comments are insulting to you or you feel are not necessary...TS...it's called "Freedom of Speech"!

Enjoy the show!
