First off,i want to thank Billy Lane for doing a book on how it was done before, old school tools, old school rules,.you can feel his passion when you read it.if you want to build an old school bike,,your not going to find a better person to learn from.i decided to buy it because if you look at the way Billy Lane does things its art at its best,,,,simple, free flowing, and real,

The book was only fair in my opinion for someone with little skills that is. The book spent a LOT of time showing Billy "TRYING" to fabricate a very undesirable Gas tank that was short of Hidious! When they could've shown the home builder how to line up the three major components and how to do some scratch wiring. The book did'nt go into any detail concerning the rear wheel spacing other than saying, ok "Now I center my rear wheel" Ok??? thats tells us NOTHING!! Nothing about rake, trail, controls, cables, setting your carb up, nothing!! There are TONS of unanswered questions that the reader will have when begining to read this, and will still have after finishing this UNINFORMING piece of literature. I am a Machinist and a mechanic, therefore I can relate to both aspects of building a bike. The book was very vague and I will soon put it back on ebay for a partial refund and hope for the best. Sorry Billy, two thumbs down, the book is a dissapointment!
