The Big Valley - Season 1 (DVD, 2006, 5-Disc Set)

The Barkleys are back in this solid 5 DVD set that contains all 30 episodes from the first season. From the opening episode, "Palms of Glory", when Heath (a very young, very blond and very laconic Lee Majors) joins the clan as the late Tom Barkley's illegitimate son to "Last Train from the Fair" where young and beautiful Audra (Linda Evans) suffers an attack of appendicitis on a train in the middle of nowhere, there's tons of western fun to be had here. Throw in some brash Nick (Peter Breck), thoughtful Jarrod (Richard Long) and, of course, matriach Victoria (Barbara Stanwick) and you have a terrific series that is sure to take you back.

Not only will you get all 30 episodes, but you'll finally be able to see all those small scenes cut for length in syndication - a few of them are real gems!

So, if you grew up in the 60s watching this show or are interested in some quality family western entertainment, I highly recommend this Big Valley DVD set.
