The Big Valley Season One

Filmed in the sixties, it is a typical western storyline, a rich family, the good guys etc. versus the various hazards of the Old West, rustlers, bank robbers, measles and dramatic stuff like doing an appendectomy on a train by the guy that's not really a doctor!
By today's standards, pretty lame in the transition of the shots of a rider actually outside, to shots of the "stage set" for the closeups and dialogue. And the plots weren't a whole lot better, but the story lines are still fun... it's what most of us were raised on. :)
What is rather interesting are some of the players, back then some were just starting out, (William Shatner) others were already big (Charles Bronson) Something most famous actors of today, wouldn't do... TV.
But the shows are still fun to watch, it's also intriguing to watch the subtle interactions between the "Barkley family" you can see that the actors actually relate toward one another as if they really were family. Almost as if once the camera was off, the banter and feelings didn't change. It's easy to see them as brothers, sister & Mother.
You almost feel as if they hung out together off stage as well. That makes the show fun to watch!
So make a bowl of popcorn, fire up the DVD and sit back for a little reminder of how you used to spend once a week wishing your name was Barkley too!
Oh... maybe you can figure out what happened to Eugene! He went missing and was never mentioned after just a few episodes. :)
