Big Love - The Complete First Season (DVD, 2006, 5-Disc Set)

I decided to buy the dvd Big Love because I loved the HBO show so much I wanted to see it again and again. Yes, I am anxiously anticipating the second season and hopefully I will be buying that series on a dvd. I like the story line immensely, the Mormans, the three wives, the kids, all impossible situations and one that I am glad I am not in, but one that I enjoy watching. There is nothing I don't like about it, NOTHING! Bill Paxton, the woman who play his wives, all great. If others are interested in buying this...hurry! I tried to buy it in the stores and it went like hot cakes, ebay was the one and only place to full fill my love for BIG LOVE.

One of the best shows ever, it has excellent writing and storyline, the acting is decent as well. Anyone who enjoys a great show will love Big Love.

I love this show right from the song at the beginning. That poor man-how did he every get himself into this? It cracks me up!!!!!!

Very entertaining! My husband and I don't have cable but we were watching a show on reg. t.v. and it mentioned it. I thought it sounded interesting so I went to ebay and bought it. Well we had great fun watching it for several weekends. We always looked foward to it, but now we've watched them all. Now we can't wait for the next season to come out on dvd. I feel sorry for the first wife and kids. Seems very unfair to them. It is not a life I would want. I don't know how a man could ever feel like he could satisfy 3 wives. My husband says NO WAY. Women want more than a husband every 3 nights. I really feel sorry for people living this lifestyle. I think it would be very hard not to rezent the other wives and the husband for that matter, but the show is very very entertaining!!!!!!! I would buy it again!!!!!!!

Its a Great story of how an average guy married would juggle a daily life BUt with a twist he has a father in law who dis-likes him and 3 wives with very different personalities to contend with..

This show, Big Love, from HBO is a favorite among my circle of friends. It definitely is the topic at the water cooler. It is about a man who owns 2 stores (somewhat like a Home Depot) and also has 3 wives and 7 children. It tells how these 3 wives interact with each other in both their individual lives as well as their own personal households. I love the show Big Love and would recommend it to anyone who has a sense of humor that would enjoy some entertainment.

I watched it because a friend told me about it. She would record it for me and I watched it that way. I was hooked from the first episode. I live in Utah and also a former active Mormon. I am looking forward to the new season and wanted to buy the 1st season because I enjoyed it so much.

This is the one show every week that I would never miss--and I'm anxiously awaiting next season. In this show with an ensemble cast that includes Jeanne Tripplehorn, Chloe Sevigny, Bill Paxton and Gennifer Goodwin, Bill Paxton plays the patriarch of a polygamist family in Utah. The problem is that they all live relatively modern lives, and they also happen to own one of the most popular home improvement chains in Salt Lake City. In other words, they're a high profile family living in the middle of the suburbs....and also happen to be polygamist. The series keeps you on the edge of your seat as you watch local citizens ALMOST discover this taboo fact about the family, and in the season cliffhanger, the word starts to come out. The performances are fabulous, and nothing's off limits, as this is an HBO series. A great show that doesn't sympathize with or promote polygamy in any way. Instead, we feel sort of sorry for the females involved, particularly the "first wife", whose husband decided to marry someone else after several years of marriage.

I am mormon. I liked this because the idea of polygamy intrigues me. As well as the "FLDS" church. I liked it because of the drama of one man trying to satisfy each of his wives and families. I also like how this show does not paint the entire mormon sect to be praticing polygamy.

Very interesting series that allows you to look into the life of a Mormon polygamist family. You realize that they are very much alike everyone else in ways, and that they are very different in other ways. Very good series!

HBO Big Love is a very great show. Its about a man with 3 wives and its about a family that is just tring to make it. I like this show because it shows a loving family and a life alot of people have or would like to have. I decide to buy it here because of the price; the price is alot less than what other sites and places want.

When this show first came on the air I was sceptical of the premise. A bigamist that has three wives and how they relate to each other. I thought this was going to be one of those shows that made you sick to your stomach but it turned out to be very good and at times I could relate to what he was going through. He is just a man that has the same problems as everyone else but its times three!!!! Very interesting show and I recommend it.

I bought this on the recommendation of a friend.

The series is certainly interesting. The focus is a polygamous family in Salt Lake City. We see how they live, how the one dad with three wives, with children from each wife, work as one unit, but how they also present themselves to the outside world as a monogamous family.

Dad is a successful business owner and is in a position to buy three adjoining houses and to support all the children.

We see how the wives work out the schedules for when each wife shares hubby and we see how they work out household chores among themselves.

And we also see the conflicts between this family and the compound they left.
For me this was the weak point of the show. While it is important to show the contrast between old and new, the personalities of the old leader and our hero became part of the conflict.

We also see how the children try to deal with the conflicts of living in a modern world where they make friends who are not like them.

Not a perfect show, but certainly an interesting one. For something different, I would certainly recommend it. But I was not interested enough to pursue the second season.

I received it quickly and enjoyed the whole season. The series fascinates me and I really enjoyed it. Thank you!

I watched the series, but did not get the chance to watch all of it. I an however glade that I bought this item. Can not wait for the next ones to be released. I will be buying them too.

I got it right away and it was exactly what I payed for. It was a great price for Big Love, being it just came out on DVD. And the condition was perfect when I received it. I have no complaints and I would definetely do business again.

I got this for my husband as I didn't think I would like it. He talked me into watching it with him and I loved it~ It was so entertaining~

I recieved the DVD most promptly. It is in excellent condition and my friends and I are enjoying several evenings together watching the season! I would definitely buy again.

Funny, innocent look at human relationships that differe from what people consider normal! Funny, poignent and wonderful, this series is one of a kind. can't wait for the return on HBO of season 2. Great acting from great actors. Chloe Sevigney should win an award. She is amazing!

I love the HBO series Biglove.It has a great story line and characters that make you look forward to every episode. I cant wait for season 2 to come on!I bought season 1 because I missed a few episodes on HBO and wanted to be able to watch them in the comfort of my own home.

Basically I paid $60.00 for the DVD set. It's been over a month, never recieved it. Won't return a single email. Yet she continues to do auctions almost daily. Spoken to a few people via email, which whom have also not recieved any merchandise or return emails. People like that shouldn't allowed to continue to sell, when their clearly ripping off buyers and not sending merchandise. I would review my product, but then again it never got that far!

This is the first time i have ever felt strongly enough to give a show an excellent rating. Big Love is one of the best....well written, well acted and very down to earth and realistic. Two thumbs up to the writters and actors. I can not wait for the third season release!

I love Big love. It has a very realistic and down to earth plot line. Not only that but it shows both sides of polygamy. The bad side is what they refer to as the "COMPOUND" in the series. That portion is about a Prophet and his many wives children and grand Children. The good side is about a Man (Bill) that has been very successful in life. He owns a store chain and has a great family.

When Bill was young he was kicked out of the Compound left in the 'real' society at the age of 14. That is when he stopped practing polygamy and found his way with the Church of Ladder Day Saints (LDS). That is how he met Barb. They had 3 children together.

When Barb got sick the "Prophet" sent one of his daughter's to take care of her. That is when Bill found his calling and began to practice polygamy again.

This is a great story line. I never get bored. I can watch it over and over again. And everytime I watch it I notice and learn something new about life.
