Bible Belt [PA] by Diane Birch (CD, Jun-2009, S-Curve USA)

I admit I don't write a lot of reviews because I figure my tastes are going to be different from anyone else's. They might not like what I like or vice versa. But since ebay sent an email and asked me to write one, I will. I had never really heard of Diane Birch before seeing her on a late night talk show. She performed "Nothing But A Miracle" and I really loved the song so I thought I would check out the rest of the album. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't the only good song on the album, which happens with some artists. I liked every song on this album! I loved the jazzy blues sound of the songs and her voice is lovely! I would definitely recommend this album to my friends! It's great for listening to with a glass of wine on a rainy night! Hope this helps anyone interested in this very talented artist!

Even though she sounds a little country-ish, which I don't usually like, I do like this cd a lot. I just heard her on XM last week, so I think she is becoming popular!

WOW! After hearing Diane perform, I was blown away with her talent as both a writer and a musician. Diane Birch has a lot of talent and I enjoyd her unique style and phrasing. Her voice is somewhat smoother, but she reminded me of Janis Joplan, Carol King, Carley Simon and the folk and pop vocalists of the 60's and 70's. She is a very talented writer and vocalist. Her lyrics have meaning and are not overcome by the music. I'm already looking forward to hearing her next CD and can only hope that it will be just as good!

Call me crazy...I like to understand the words of a song. I love this CD because the music and lyrics have meaning, something clearly important to singer/songwriter Diane Birch. This album reminds me of another one of my favorite artists, Anna Nalick. I am very pleased to recommend Bible Belt. It is a rare gem.

I really enjoyed this CD. Diane Birch has a great soulful sound to her. I enjoyed the song "Choo Choo".

One to One Network recently sent me another CD to review, Diane Birch's Bible Belt.
By far and away, my favorite song on the CD was the first, Fire Escape. She has a very unique sound, almost reminding me of Norah Jones on a few of the tracks. I love, love her voice, but found some of the songs below expectation. Valentino, the 2nd track on the album was my least favorite. When she sticks to more simple melodies she shines, but some of the songs seem to be showcasing the background music more than her voice. Overall, very unique.

Wow! This is her first CD but you cannot tell. To me, she sounds like an old favorite! Diane wrote the music herself, and she writes like a pro. The music is very relatable and some of the songs are haunting. Her music stays with you for a long time, but in a good way! There are several ways to describe her music-smooth, soulful, easy listening, raw, stripped, earthy, simple, and unique. You can really feel her energy, and feel what she was thinking when she wrote her lyrics. Among other things, this CD would be perfect for a day at the beach with a good book. My favorite song is Ariel-it just stays with me! Her sound is similar to Carly Simon, but a modern version. I foresee a long and successful music career for Diane!
