To my knowledge only three mint marks belong to this coin. 1976P (Philadelphia) 115,000,000+ coins minted & 1976D (Denver) 103,000,000+ coins minted, 1976S (San Francisco) unknown on number of coins minted, I do know these 1976S coins were struck in silver/ copper clad. 1976 dollar coin was minted to celebrate the bicentennial, reverse has Liberty Bell with Moon symbol (designed by Dennis Williams)which ultimately got added to half dollar and quarters for years 1975 & 1976. Remember all coins were struck in either copper/ nickel or silver/ copper composition.
COMPOSITION
75.0% copper, 25.0% nickle, reeded edge, 38.1 diameter, 22.68g, 1 US dollar value.
This same coin had a clip design and necklace design while the two tone bicentennial goes for $50 easily due to Eisenhower head on this dollar coin was struck in gold with harp surface coat to last the test of time. Also remember any 1976D silver copper coins were struck in error and are rare to find very hot item to find (these coins were suppose to be struck in copper nickel clad). Classification on these bicentennials have 1776-1976 dates are separated with a dot.
Good luck on your coin hunting, try to find that 1976D error coin. I hear they go for $300+. This year coin is usually sold out anyways, I remember four years ago they were easily attainable, but not so good today.
