John Wilson's 73-piece orchestra performs 18 of Bobby Darin's hit songs while Kevin Spacey sings, literally performing a grand impersonation of the once great performer. Spacey also directs "Beyond the Sea," a biopic of Darin's career & life. These 18 tracks were recorded in Abbey Road studio, London, England.
When I studied the filmography & first realized that Kevin Spacey had done all of the singing, I was floored! Who knew Spacey had this facet of talent up his sleeve? I remain impressed by Spacey's rendition of Darin on the following tracks:
1) Hello Young Lovers
2) Once Upon a Time
3) Fabulous Places
4) Simple Song of Freedom
5) Mack the Knife
6) Beyond the Sea
7) By Myself & When Your Lover has Gone
8) Some of These Days
9) Change
10) If I Were a Carpenter
11) Artificial Flowers
12) That's All
13) Dream Lover
14) Splish Splash
15) Lazy River
16) Charade
17) As Long as I'm Siging
18) The Curtain Falls
I should mention that the film also necessarily includes at least a partial biopic of Sandra Dee because she was Bobby Darin's wife, who never remarried after his untimely death~
