Beyond the Reflection's Edge. A malicious murder and mysterious mirror. Meet sixteen year old Nathan Shepherd, son of an private investigator and famous violinist. When both his parents are suddenly murdered he is left with a strange mirror and clues left by his father. He, with his tutor Clara, team up with Kelly, his father's old college buddy's daughter. When Nathan put his mirror into an empty section of a larger mirror at Kelly's house, the unthinkable occurs. They discover that the mirror along with his violin playing opens the door to other dimensions where friends may be enemies. They also discover that the assassins are after their mirror for evil purposes. Who can they trust? Will the dark side win? What happened to Nathan's parents? Find out in Beyond the Reflection's Edge, the first installment in Echoes from the Edge, an exiting new series by Bryan Davis, author of bestselling series Dragons in Our Midst and Oracles of Fire. You will not be able to stop turning the pages as each surprise unfolds! I loved the way this plot unfolded with action and good lessons on every page, and I'm sure you will too!

  AWESOME BOOK!!!
Review created: 05/15/08

Mr. Davis's complex and brilliant story-lines never cease to amaze me. I have been a fan ever since his first young adult novel, Raising Dragons, and Beyond the Reflection's Edge tops everything he's written thus far! Filled with exciting chases, mysterious characters, and a wonderful Christian theme, BTRE is an amazing book that I would recommend to any young adult. My only caution is that there are occasional discussions about extra-marital sex (not glorifying it, but showing it for what it is: sin) which might not be suitable for kids under 15.

I read the entire book the day I got it, in just a few hours. It's extremely intense, fast-paced action that will NOT allow you to put the book down.

I anxiously await the next book in the series.

  Excellent!

What do you get when you have interdimensional mirrors, violins that speak, and a 'broken' camera? Why, Bryan Davis' new fantasy novel of course!

When Nathan Shepherd's parents are murdered during a concert, Nathan and his tutor Clara, must run for their lives before the killers find them too. With mysterious happenings behind every corner, Nathan, and his new friend Kelly, must solve the mysteries which cross multiple dimensions, before time runs out, and they are all destroyed.

I was worried that after reading Davis' Dragons in our Midst and Oracles of Fire series, nothing would be able to live up to the story and characters which brought those books to life. I am pleased to say that my worries were far, far, far, from being valid.

Beyond the Reflection's Edge brings some wonderful characters who are realistic and touching, as well as unique, and easy to relate to. It is, in a word, a masterpiece. The storyline is mind bending, spell binding, and heart wrenching, all at the same time. The spiritual themes are ever present, but not overbearing, and leave you with things to ponder long after the last page is turned. The story is captivating from beginning to end, and left me hungry for more.

All I can say is, well done Mr. Davis! Your books are quickly becoming my standard for excellence in the Christian fantasy genre!

  AWESOME! Pre-Reader Gives Highest Rating
Review created: 05/09/08

I had the great privilege of pre-reading this book. I am not allowed to spoil the surprise, so I will only say that after being enthralled by the world Bryan Davis created in Dragons in Our Midst and expanded upon in Oracles of Fire, I eagerly anticipated his new series, Echoes from the Edge. The characters, like those in his first two series, are realistic, relatable teens that readers of all ages can identify with. I see echoes of myself in Daryl, who constently alludes to and quotes from such favorite fantasies as Lord of the Rings and Narnia, as well as The Wizard of Oz.
My good intentions to read only a chapter of Beyond the Reflection's Edge daily evaporated. I read the whole book in less than four hours. The first chapter contained more emotion and action than some books ever reach. From there, the story builds in depth and action to an extraordinary conclusion. Unlike some books, Beyond the Reflection's Edge yields more excitement with each re-reading. I can't wait for the next installment!

Beyond the Reflection's Edge is the first in the series Echoes from the Edge. Previous works of Bryan Davis' compelled me to buy this book, and it was more than worth it. This book has action, suspense, and mystery in every chapter, as well as virtues important for life.

  Simply a Captivating Story
Review created: 05/04/08

This is the story of a teenage boy, Nathan, who loses his parents in a ghastly murder. Not satisfied with the murder of his parents, the evil Mictar wants Nathan dead, too, but only after he gets what he wants from him first. With the aid of a mirror that his father leaves him, his mother’s violin, his tutor, and many new friends, he finds there are different dimensions that are being intertwined into discord and fear.

I found this to be a very enthralling story from start to finish. Even though I found some confusion between the dimensions, I did not want to put this story down. There is action and something new in every chapter.

  ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!
Review created: 04/25/08(updated 04/25/08)

A VERY intriguing scifi mystery thriller by Mr. Davis. it is definately for 13+ but the teens that read it should definately LOVE IT!

Mirrors, spies, interdimensional intrigue.....what more could you ask for?

(and for all Twilight fans.....the main character....Nathan.....he reminds me and a few friends who've read both books.....of Edward Cullen! he really does!)

you guys should try to get this book into your library, and make sure you don't have a big test to study for.....cause once you start reading it you won't wanna stop!
(trust me....I started reading it at night and didn't stop till I was done)
