Beyond Basic Dog Training by Diane L. Bauman (2003, Hardcover, Subsequent Edition)

I have to admit I find the ear pinching, particularly incorporating a chain (with detailed instructions and photos yet), to be rather incomprehensible coming from someone who espouses otherwise caring and humane methods. The fact that it apparently works, doesn't mean, to my mind, that it's acceptable. That said, there's so much excellent information in this book, I'm not inclined to throw out the baby with the bath water. If you do nothing more than switch over from a "training" to a "teaching" mind set, as Diane proposes throughout the book, it's well worth the money...and getting your nose a bit bent out of shape. As with any training (or teaching) method, you use what works for you and discard what doesn't.
