Aggie Sloan-Wilcox is the wife of Pastor Ed Wilcox of the Unitarian-Universal Church in Emerald Springs, Ohio. Things are not going well at the moment for Aggie and her husband because her mother is living with them in crowded conditions until the rennovation of the Victorian house can be completed. Aggie and Ed decide they need a get-a-way so take off to New York City, leaving mother to mind the house. Once settled in NYC, they receive a distressful call from Mara Wagner, a parishioner, who frantically tells them that her spouse Joe never came home from his monthly business trip. Being a natural sleuth, Aggie drags her husband to the only clue they have....."The Pussycat Club." There they find that Joe's 'business' is as a female impersonator. Joe is still missing but in the meantime his nemesis, Hazel Kefauver falls over dead from poison at a fund raiser that Joe was suppose to run. Aggie truly believes the two cases are intertwined. Other subplots that may have to do with the murder are: where is the valuable antique punch bowl that belonged to the church and trying to find out the identity of the mysterious carpenter working on the house.

Fans of Ms. Richards will love Aggie who defies the stereotype pastor's wife. The mystery is well constructed and flows evenly to keep you turning each page with anticipation. A nice cozy set in the Midwest. Perfect!

BEWARE FALSE PROFITS: Another Cozy Midwestern Whodunit

What's not to love about a mystery wherein the heroine's best friend buys her realtor's master keys on eBay?

When Joe Wagner, director of the Emerald Springs food bank, goes missing, minister's wife Aggie Sloan-Wilcox and her husband discover discover his secret life as a once-a-month female impersonator. Then his nemesis, the mayor's wife, falls over dead during the food bank's annual fundraiser -- which Joe was supposed to run.

With Joe and the mayor on the suspect list and financial scandals unfolding at the food bank, it's up to amateur sleuth Aggie to put the pieces together and get to the bottom of things fast, before Emerald Springs has another date with the angel of death.

The Ministry Is Murder series follow-up to "Let There Be Suspects" and "Blessed Is The Busybody", "Beware False Profits" is another lighthearted Midwestern mystery by USA Today bestselling veteran author Emilie Richards. This book is an answered prayer for fans of the "cozy" whodunit: It's light on gore and heavy on humor. You'll chuckle over the antics of Aggie's dysfunctional extended family, and if you're paying attention, you might just be able to put together enough clues to solve the murder yourself by the dramatic end of the book.

I have not read a book by Emilie Richards that I didn't like. All of her
books are excellent. I cannot think of anything else to say about this book.
