Album Notes
The Colour: Wyatt Hull (vocals); David Quon (guitar, piano); Luke MacMaster (guitar); Derek Van Heule (bass guitar); Nathan Warkentin (drums).
Recording information: Quad Studios, Nashville, Tennessee (2006).
On its 2007 full-length debut, BETWEEN EARTH & SKY, the Colour presents a winning set of hook-heavy tunes. Despite its Anglo name-spelling and its British Invasion-inspired songs, the band is actually based in Los Angeles. While the group's lyrics are often spiritual, leading to Christian associations, its sound is clearly rooted in 1960s/'70s rock, with the slinky "Kill the Lights" recalling vintage Rolling Stones, and "Devil's Gotta Holda Me" clearly revealing the influence of Led Zeppelin.
