Betty Crocker Cookbook (2006, Hardcover)

I had an earlier version of this cookbook years ago when I was a young housewife. I lost that copy back in the mid 1980's. I have since used many others but none are as comprehensive and easy to follow as this one. I took a copy out on loan from the library and as soon as I remembered how awesome it is, I ordered myself a copy and also a copy for my young niece, who is just starting to find her own way in the kitchen. She had been using a copy of the "Joy of Cooking" that was a gift from her mother but as soon as she opened up this book, she was hooked. I had given it to her on Christmas Eve and when I saw her the next day for Christmas dinner, she had told me that she stayed up half the night reading it! Aside from all the great recipes, there are many reference charts for measurement equivalents, cooking/baking times, shopping guides, etc....one of my favorite parts and the reason I sought this book out again after so many years is the chart that lists ingredients that you can use in place of a certain ingredient you may not have readily available. I definitely recommend this cook book to anyone...kitchen novices and experienced cooks, alike.
