For Diehard Page Fans
If you must have everything Bettie-related, this is worth seeing -- if you can get an inexpensive copy. The only (historical) value of the movie is that it faithfully recreates six short fetish films Bettie did for Irving Klaw that no longer exist (shot in black & white -- plus bonus color versions). That was the purpose of this film. The director then tacked-on various biographical scenes (in color) to flesh out a simple story around this time period. Paige Richards is okay as Bettie; the other actors are uniformly stiff, dull, and amateurish -- probably all first-timers. Like watching a bad rehearsal for the well-acted "Notorious Bettie Page" movie, it makes you appreciate the latter film all the more.
