This 1989 double-disc compilation was the first Luther Vandross best-of on the market, and it is a faithful representation of the key tracks from the artist's first decade as a performer. Naturally, Vandross's '90s work is not represented, and Vandross had recorded so much quality material during the '80s that even this 20-track set omits some gems.
With those reservations aside, BEST OF LUTHER VANDROSS... THE BEST OF LOVE is a veritable case study in smooth '80s R&B, including such smash hits as "Here and Now," "Never Too Much," and the Bacharach-David classic "A House Is Not a Home." Vandross really only sings about love, but with a voice this beautiful and a delivery this passionate, who's complaining? Fans who want a compilation of his '90s work as well should pick up ONE NIGHT WITH YOU...THE BEST OF LOVE, VOL. 2, which, together with this set, provides a comprehensive overview of Vandross's magic.

      THE BOMB!!!!!

    Pros:
great relaxing baby making music. or anytime music

    Cons:
Luther needs to stay one size (weight).

What can I say about Luther Vandross? Well I can start out by saying that I know personally a lot of babies were made to Luthers song's. Luther has the type of voice that you will listen to 50 years from now. He has the type of music that is for young, old, middle aged people, any type of person. His persona is one of a kind. His stage performance is to die for. He doesn't even need a big flashy stage like some performers.
I remember seeing Luther Vandross and Envogue in concert, why I went by myself I don't know. This concert was so powerful I cried when he sang. It was just him on a big round stage that turned very slow, he sang all of the old songs as well as some new songs. He made a lot of babies that night for sure.
The only complaint that I would have about Luther, is that he needs to stay one size. Either fat or skinny, but regardless of what size he is his voice projects over a crowd, and you know that he is not lip syncing or playing around. Luther is one of the many greats in r&b, and he will remain one of my favorites.
I would have to say personally that "House is not a home", and "Superstar" are my favorites. As well as "If this world were mine". It just seems to me that singers back in the day meant what they sung about. It wasn't always about how many females you have, or how much money you had. The music was about "LOVE" real love. His music has always meant something, and everyone can relate to his songs. What i mean by relate is that every song Luther Vandross has wrote pertained to something in everyones life.
Luther is the king, and if you ever get a chance to see him in concert, PLEASE DO. He will soothe your mind, body, and soul with his mellow tones, and his lovely lyrics. My advice to anyone reading this.....GO GET THIS ALBUM. Peace & LOVE
