Album Notes This is part of the "EMI Legends Of Rock 'N' Roll Series". With the emergence of such British blues-rockers as the Rolling Stones and the Yardbirds in the early '60s, a slew of bands followed, one of the best was Manfred Mann. The band's 1992 hits set, BEST OF: THE DEFINITIVE COLLECTION, contains all their '60s favorites, but may be a bit misleading from its title--none of their mainstream rock hits from the '70s are included ("Blinded by the Light," etc.). But BEST OF is a solid collection from beginning to end, featuring such party-rock classics as "Do Wah Diddy Diddy," "Cock a Hoop," "5-4-3-2-1 (Parts 1 and 2)," and "Sha La La." At a hefty 26 tracks long (complete with a "group interview" bonus track), BEST OF: THE DEFINITIVE COLLECTION will serve as a splendid introduction to '60s-era Manfred Mann.
