Yazoo, we miss you

Two albums done within a year, yet as fresh and everlasting as the days they were cut.
Vince Clarke is a genius. He has created three of pops most beloved and successful acts, starting with Depeche Mode. Maybe there was forboding told when Vince sang, "I just can't get enuff"? He left them right after their brilliant debut, SPEAK and SPELL. After Yaz, Vince maintained his vagabond spirit by teaming up very temporarily with Feargull Sharkey on a one song band called the Assembly. Shortly thereafter, he collaborated with Paul Quinn to release one song as well. He went on to forming Erasure with Andy Bell that has lasted 20 years. Most recently, he has been collaborating with Martin Weir, founder of Human League and Heaven 17.
Alison has maintained a successful solo career since.
This CD is strong, but most fans will say it is incomplete. I feel, since they put most of all of the bands songs on this compilation, they should have finished the job by putting on the few that missed the cut. The most noticeable ommission is WALK AWAY FROM LOVE, which was backed by the famous Sapphires. SWEET THING, or BRING YOUR LOVE DOWN (DIDN'T I) certainly could have been on the CD as well. Most Yaz fans will think the biggest mistake was not including the fun song, BAD CONNECTION.
If they had done away with the unneccesary re-mixes (that every best of seems to have ruined by one lately), these songs would've made it a more complete CD.
The hits are on it. From the chart toppers like ONLY YOU, NOBODYS DIARY to the immortal SITUATION, as well as the sultry MIDNIGHT. These songs alone are pleasing enough, and still has you hoping Vince and Alf amble into the same studio once again to rekindle the supernatural talent called YAZ!
