Best in Show (DVD, 2001)

This movie is fantastic. If you liked any of the Christopher Guest movies (A Mighty Wind, Waiting for Guffman, Spinal Tap), you will definitely like this as well. The cast is many from those great movies as well and all are very funny. The acting is very good in this and you should pay attention to the commentary during the dog show, Fred Willard is great.

The movie is a spoof of dog shows, but mostly it is a poke at the owner's of the dogs. Each couple is an interesting take on absurdity and people who take something as simple as the family pet too seriously. The people are very over the top and very humorous, especially if you watched the documentary style show of pet owners on cable or any of the dog shows.

The bonus material is pretty limited in this release, but interesting. The commentary by Christopher Guest and Eugene Levy is interesting and the additional scenes are good. As with all Christopher Guest movies, this was sort of unscripted for the actors and so their genius plays out and is apparent with the additional scenes. It would have been nice to see bloopers or the rest of the extra footage from the movie, I'm sure there was more, but in no way does that take away from the movie.

I was told you can find ANYTHING on eBay. So I went to CDs and typed in BEST IN SHOW, one of my favorite movies of all time. Christopher Guest and his ensemble are certifiably nuts!! Fred Willard will have you on the floor! I didn't get it on original bid, but DID get it on second chance. I was really excited. It came quickly and in excellent shape. eBay is the best. Believe in people. They are mostly honest and want to to honest business with you for a fair price. Investigate, comparative shop, and trust eBay!!

Once I see a movie, I'm seldom one to go back and watch it over. My definition of a 'favorite movie' therefore, is one I can watch over and over again and love it every time. I am 50 years old and there are only about 4-5 movies that fall into this category for me. Best in Show is definitely one of them. It is one of the most hilarious movies I have ever seen. There are not just a few funny parts, this movie is jam packed with funny lines, ridiculous characters, and proposterous situations. Whether you have a twisted sense of humor (me), or just your everyday normal person sense of humor, you will love this movie. Only if you have absolutely no sense of humor, will you think its 'stupid', as one reviewer put it. Love it, love it, love it!!!!

I purchased this DVD because it is a staple in my collection of dogs/dog showing items. It is absolutely hysterical and a must see - in my opinion. It is a documentary style movie with character exaggerations(sp?). Having experienced first hand the world of dog shows I can tell you that in some respects, yes, it really is/can be like this movie illustrates. But not all dog show folks fall into these catagories as portrayed in the movie. If you are looking for a classic this movie is it - you will not be disappointed.

This movie is an all-time favorite of mine. The ensemble cast is great and the satire is hilarious. For those of us who don't have dogs, we can appreciate the storyline because we have friends who do. It was for one of the couples with two dogs that we gave it as a gift.

Eugene Levy is dynamite.

The characters and their stories are absoulutely hillarious. You will love this movie if you like eccentric characters.

A friend had never seen it so thought it would be a great Christmas present and it was! He loved it.

Best in Show is the third in a series of movies starring and directed by Christopher Guest. It stars several cast members from his previous movies, and gives a really funny behind the scenes view into the world of Dog Shows. I bought this DVD because I have had this movie on VHS and thought it was time to upgrade since my husband and I love to watch it so much!

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. If you like Mockumentary style films with plenty of Satire to go around then this is one for you. If you are a Christopher Guest fan that has not seen this one then do yourself a favor and get it LIKE NOW!

Crazy, campy fun amongst these few groups of individuals headed to a dog show. They all have the same thing in mind, but all are so very different.

I decided to try my luck on ebay, since this movie is hard to come by in your everyday store. And when you do come across it, it's pretty spendy. I love movies by Christopher Guest, because they seem so real, and they give perfect satire on their topics. The humor is subtle, but very effective, and it's an overall good movie. :)

I promptly received the movie, but was disappointed that the shipping was so high (as much as the movie). I've purchased DVD's before and the shipping wasn't more than $2.50. The shipping for this was $5.00 and the movie was $4.99.

this is a fun show for those of us that know what people act like at dog shows. I know each of the characters. CAN YOU BELIEVE THERE ARE PEOPLE JUST LIKE THEM?

Great movie making fun of Dog show fanatics, and those that treat thier dogs better than mosts kids.

Many of us love dogs, but this is a spoof of the extreem.

Clean humor, lots of fun

I bought this DVD for my daughter who works at a hotel that puts on a banquet and dog show every year. She sees people like the ones in the movie and I thought she could really relate to this movie. She loved it.

Bought it cause my kids were talking about it. It seems to have reached cult status among college kids. It was cute, filled with totally dysfunctional characters who go on and on and on about nothing. I can understand sitting in the TV room at the fraternity house and playing a drinking game with this movie and I expect that's where it's popularity has grown. Once is enough if you can get the whole way through it.

just a real funny movie that you want to watch over and over again a great cast of funny actors no dirty launage and it about mans best friend what more can you ask for

Very funny movie with many good actors. Was just listed in top 25 comedies by Entertainment Weekly. Very enteraining!!

Funny movie with dry humor. Eugene Levy is great. They use real show dogs for the movie, so that was fun to know. I loved the Bloodhound !!! The neurotic yuppie Wimeriner owners were a riot.

Recommended if you like dogs and dry humor.

I enjoyed this movie, but I enjoy participating in Dog Shows myself. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who isn't familiar with the dog show environment, as it might be hard to understand and relate to it. If you are passionate about dog shows or dogs in general, I highly recommend this movie!
