What a fantastic Book! This is one of the first cookbooks by Cook's Illustrated that I bought and it is still one of my favorites. The recipes are just Great but, what I love most is that they teach you about each recipe. They start each recipe off with at least 1/2 to a full page of information and history about the recipe. This book really jump started me in my expanded knowledge of baking/cooking. I was already a natural at following a recipe and having it turn out nice, but this book started me on my journey for even better skills. It was like taking a cooking class without leaving my home. This was the first cookbook I sat down and just read before I made a thing.
Here are some of the recipes I highly recommend from this book -
Snickerdoodles Cookie - Very nice texture and taste.
Peanut Butter Cookie - Best I have ever had, nice peanut butter flavor and texture.
Oatmeal Cookie - Another Wow! Not just another oatmeal cookie.
Crescent Cookie - My Grandma & Great Grandma Love me everytime I show up with these. They love them with their coffee.
Lemon Bars - Again very nice texture and lemon flavor.
If you love to bake or cook this is a great book to have in your library. You will not be disappointed.
